Its been a rainy day here.... We had our driveway leveled off to the house and ready to get some gravel hauled last week.(we'd been walking through a mud pit since we moved in) Well, now we are going to have to redo some of the work... I hope we can just do it with a shovel and rake if we can get it done and gravel on it soon! I didn't do a lot today... resting from everything we accomplished over the weekend! LOL. I did manage to do some laundry and put some eggs in cartons in the fridge! I have 12 dozen + in there now...

When ya gonna sell some of them perdy eggs, Lindz? You have waaaaaayyyyyyyyyy too many! You saving them for Easter? I really love that raspberry egg amongst all the others!

Welcome to the Porch. Always happy to see new faces. Here's a lot of wonderful intelligent caring people. You don't find that on a lot of the threads. Nothing like tooting our own horn.

Now, remember what my dad said, "He who doth not tooteth his horn oft doth not getteth his horn tootethed!" (I really didn't need to re-post it, but it's just so doggone much fun hearing the little spell checker dude inside my computer come uncorked when I do!)

Give yourself two pieces of TWs chocolate cake with an extra dollop of your chocolate pudding, 'cause you done good, girl! That's my favorite shade of red...it just...speaks to me. Makes me think of fall, warm blankets, old barns, horses and chili peppers.

Oh, wow! Gasp! What a lovely surprise - you all noticed! Thank you! Why, I'm just so flabbergasted I'm speechless! (Yeah, like THAT ever happens!) I don't know what happened with the paint- I wanted Barn Red and ended up with Best Little Wh***house in Cowley burgundy! <sigh> Oh, well the chickens didn't seem shocked when their side dried and we let them back outside.

Yes, I have one Golden comet that lays a purple-ish egg... When you wash it, it is just plain brown though....

Your hen must buy her paint the same place I did.

Earlier in this thread I read about someone working on a chapter in their novel. So, trying to be in that literary spirit, I will tell you about my farm and my critters in a poem, which I just made up now, so enjoy, don't be too critical.

Four horses at pasture,
I guess, just for the view.
Two barn cats, three house cats,
What can you do?
An orchard and veg garden feeds us each day;
Two crazy dogs invite us to play.
Sheep for their wool,
Bees for their honey,
Chooks for their eggs,
SO! We don't make any money!
