The Front Porch Swing

Is anybody else on the porch a pepper freak? I LOVE peppers and spicy food. If I don't grow anything else this year I am going to have a pepper garden. I bought a bottle of dried pepper flavored with lime in a Mexican grocery/restaurant the other day. It is sooo good. I have got to make my own. I'm planting cayennes, serranos, jalapenos, chilis, habanaros and some wussy little bell peppers for my mom. lol

Sounds terrific. It would probably kill me. Ulcers. Ugg.

Touch me not and Jewel weed are the same plant. A woman who lives close to me knows all the wild cures.  The first year I lived here I thought I was going to die from poison ivy and flea bites. She taught me a lot I also worked with the Pueblo Indians and learned many remedies from them. They say that for any poisonous plant the antidote grows close by.

That is so cool. I would love to learn things like that, especially from some Native Americans. Where did you meet up with the Pueblos?

Try shaking a little bit of that on Fruit....  Mangos Peaches, watermellon....  experiment.    I went on a kick on it for a while kind of burned out on it....  NO pun in tended.... LOL   Have two bottles sitting on my desk....  The one I have is Tajin...

Hottest i will go is fresh Serrano or Smoked Jalepenio or Chipoltle....  Try one Chipoltle in Braised pork for pulled pork sandwiches....  You practiaclly dont need anything else....  but I use a whole head of Garlic peeled and smashed....  Or smashed then peeled... LOL.
And a little tomato based barbeque sauce or just plain ole catsup.....  for sweetness.  I dont like it real sweat very often.

This bottle says it is "fruit seasoning". I thought that was strange but I guess it's good. I'll try it! This brand is "Valentina". It is delicious on eggs! It's not really hot but the flavor is good. I usually have a jalapeno and a serrano cut up in an omlet every morning. Cayenne is good in eggs too. Some garlic is hot.

Very wise to listen to people who have tribal Knowledge.... And by tribal I mean Knowledge that is passed down from generation to generation.... That includes all people who live in one area for many many generations.

The gal who lived across from me was part Yaqui. She was born on the Pacific side of the mainland Mexico. Not in Baja. Fiesty and opinionated. Through her I found out Yucca pods are edible. When Her care taker at the time had a huge tooth ache she had me take her on a search for an herb..... I still dont know what it was. We met one of her cousins on the highway and we follwed her cousin where the cousin knew the herb grew.... They picked a bunch. It was wadded up into a ball and packed in the area where the tooth ached. Then she would make a tea with it....

There was a Mexican name for it I never was able to remember.....

It is a little better.... there is still a couple of blisters that are fluid-filled and itchy, but I've been alternating hydrocortisone, benedryl cream and calamine lotion.

Oh, and she started laying a couple weeks ago and laid a whole dozen before she decided to go broody! LOL....

Good for you.!!! Obviously you are not allergic to it.

I hope that itch doesn't last too long. :)

I had a pullet go broody last year. I let her hatch out some eggs and the pullets she hatched out were laying their own eggs before mom was a year old. She just went broody again this week. I'm going to let her hatch out some more eggs. You gotta love a broody. :)
