The Front Porch Swing

Good morning everybody. I hope you all have a blessed Lord's day! :) I hope your prayers are being answered, needs met and fears relieved.

A beautiful and blessed Sunday to you all. We are back outside today completing the fence and pasture for my Scottish Highland heifers that arrive tomorrow morning. Still have a lot to do as this fence was a real learning curve for us. Took us much longer than expected and cost more than I had planned, but that seems to be the way most of our projects go. The man we are getting them from told me yesterday that the older heifer might be arriving with a surprise. He thinks she is due to calf any time.

That is both exciting and scary at the same time as this is our first experience with any kind of cattle. Seems like we are always trying something new. Our postman raised quail and had too many eggs to hatch so he dropped of 2 dozen the other day for my incubator. Guess our next project after building out the interior of the new coop will be a run and shelter for quail. Any ideas would be appreciated.! Any of you hatched quail?
How'd you manage that? My postman just drops off bills! <sigh>

Hi everyone! Guess who had her first job failure? This girl!

I'm going back to my hometown tomorrow and I'm not going back to Austin for a job until I have a car, a license, and a heart full of desire to experience life. The family I was with was crazy.

If there is anything I have learned on this forum, it is that women can be nurturing an strong, mothers an warriors, all at once. We aren't just simpering little twits that follow men around waiting for orders or to be talked down to.

This family obviously didn't know that. I heard the term feminazi being thrown around and I was about ready to screech with indignation. I won't be going back. My Mom has agreed to go get my stuff for me. It would be nice to go back to Austin, but I'm not good back to that house. They just need to drop me off at a bar in 6th street and let me sip a drink and they can get me later. That house was toxic. I slept 15 hours last night and I pray that no other woman goes into that house and experiences what I did.

Storms are starting to roll in here. Just rain and rumbling, nothing extreme expected until tomorrow.

Grey and gloomy..

Atleast my garden will appreciate it, so just thinking of a bountiful harvest to keep the spirit up.

My babygirl is bedbound right now (jaundice), and she's just wanting to snuggle her momma. I know she's done with it, I'm done with it.. hoping she will be done with her treatment by tomorrow.

DH had to work today (he had 8 vacation days, so we decided to spread them out, taking 4 per week, so having to work 1 day)...

It's just a blah kind of day, isn't it?

On the bright side, atleast I am sitting on my behind for a change, I have been going, going, going from the moment I came out of the hospital. My legs have been swollen, so sitting would probably be a good activity

Maybe it seems like a job failure but it sounds like a life success. You go, girl!

No such thing on this thread, Blooie....we can share anything here about our family without bringing a cloud over the Porch...it's a covered porch.  :D   You didn't bring us down at all because we are trying to help hold you up and that makes us feel good to be helping from a distance.  :hugs   Thank you for trusting us with your troubles and cares as it makes us feel included in your life and we love that!

If 5 gal. of water doesn't hold off 22 layers I'll eat my hat..if I had a hat.  No worries about topping it off, just fill it, hang it and trust in God...unless your nipples leak, then you can top it off now and again as needed.  I'd leave 5 gals of water to 50 meat birds for that long without worrying.

Yeah, what she said exactly!! Friends are there for each other no matter the circumstances! Besides all the prayer requests are good as it gives me more things to do when I'm awake at night in the wee hours and my brain won't turn off! God never rests and he sure does love us!

Thanks Texas Lisa and Bee, I'll sit on the rocking chair and I bring some English hot tea with milk, ginger and some spices enough to share. This morning is sunny looking great. Going to Church in a couple hours n I'll be back for the stories.

Welcome from Texas! Good to have you. Right now, the hot tea is a bit too hot for me-it's nearly 90 and I've been working in the sun. Some ice tea with a few spices sound good though.

Thank you, Iced tea it is for you. I see you are in Katy Texas, I used to live in Houston near Medical center and The Woodlands. I know it gets hot there and more heat and humidity is coming

@Ibejaran... maybe that guy will learn a little something and even more important, maybe his children will. You are so right, a woman can be kind and nurturing and ALSO be a fierce warrior. Don't worry, God always has a plan.
