The Front Porch Swing

Bee and anyone here since we are on the porch, when growing up my mom used to make us save the bean broth after boiling all types of beans for our meals to feed the goats with, we would add it to their water and they would gobble it up like a treat, mom said it was very nutritive to them. Apart from the richness in protein what else would be it's benefit? Anyone raising goats ever done this?
Interesting..... When we make beans there is no broth except that which is served up in the bowl.

I bet it is good for them.

I find Tornados far scarier......  More horrific.

I understand how to survive fire.... You now when its coming if you listen to the news.   Knowing prevailing winds helps too.

I am of the opinion there is NOTHING worth saving with regards to "stuff" you own.....  And sad to say that includes livestock. Preparation is key

We each have things in our environment that are inherently dangerous.    Heat, Drought, Fires and surprisingly the resultant floods and landslides here.   And the occasional earthquake.  We adapt.

Yeah you're right, at least you know when a fire is coming. But if I was going to die in a bad way in either, I'd choose the tornado over fire any day. We have earthquakes too, and the tornados.

Did you get your cow back yet?

Well, she is outside the fence looking in and staying close to her buddy. Game plan is over the next few days is to lure Dawn into the run-in and lock her down if we can. Then we can open the gate and hope Clare is hungry enough to come in to the main pasture. After that I think we will be able to get both of them in the paddock where I can work with them. If not, I am inviting all of you on the porch to an old fashioned round-up. Deb do you think Perchie could pose as a quarter horse?

Hi everyone. I've been a lurker over at Bee's hootie thread and followed y'all over here. I feel a little bit like a stalker so thought I'd say hi.

Does it say anything about me that when I go to the weather Chanel to check things out I see a duck?

Hey dpenning, welcome to the porch. I'm rather close to you. Outside of Shreveport. Love your area. Worked in Plano for a while. Lived in Ft Worth. Then I got smart and moved home to the quiet.

I'm relieved she didn't run so far she got lost! I'm sure you can work with this situation and get them both to the right side of the fence. Or build a new fence around her. ;)

That's good news! I guess you aren't any good at roping?

Lisa :)

Remember for these you need an 11/32" drill bit. I ordered 10 nipples on Ebay and paid $7 and $4 for the bit.. Total price shipped from China. Took 3 weeks.

My man is coming Thursday to finish up the coop proofing and get my nipple buckets and perches built. Thank God, the poor babies are screaming to get out and PLAY. So excited to get them outside. Also, he needs to get me a gutter and cut it in half. Would it be better to nail it on some wood or use a cement block like Leslie?
