The Front Porch Swing

Remember for these you need an 11/32" drill bit.  I ordered 10 nipples on Ebay and paid $7 and $4 for the bit..  Total price shipped from China.  Took 3 weeks.   :lau My man is coming Thursday to finish up the coop proofing and get my nipple buckets and perches built.   Thank God, the poor babies are screaming to get out and PLAY.  So excited to get them outside.   Also, he needs to get me a gutter and cut it in half.   Would it be better to nail it on some wood or use a cement block like Leslie?

Depends on how sturdy the gutter is, I would think.

Well, she is outside the fence looking in and staying close to her buddy. Game plan is over the next few days is to lure Dawn into the run-in and lock her down if we can. Then we can open the gate and hope Clare is hungry enough to come in to the main pasture. After that I think we will be able to get both of them in the paddock where I can work with them. If not, I am inviting all of you on the porch to an old fashioned round-up. Deb do you think Perchie could pose as a quarter horse?

I'll bring Valentine along. This pic is about ten years old, but he still has some vinegar left in him.

We're seriously looking into getting a shelter put in

We talked and decided a loan is a small price for peace of mind.. I hate paying the interest, but I would feel terrible if something happened while waiting to save. We can afford it, we just have to make it a priority. We haven't had any really nasty weather since I had my son, so we never had to consider going to a shelter.. last night, staying awake, watching the weather, waiting to make the call to drag three little kids to a community shelter, we realized how bad a situation it is.

With a shelter we can SLEEP in there, during a bad night. They wont have to sleep with their shoes next to their bed, ready to go on a moments notice.
I had an internet acquaintance that lives in Oklahoma the part of the state that was Razed last year. He had his own.... So I got curious. There are some shelters that get built in the spot where your front door is.... The top of the shelter is the landing for your front door. So it doesnt stand out in your landscape. The steps to the house was on one side and the hatch to the shelter was on another.

and before you get to her....

I betcha the cow could go under her.... The top rail of the fence is five feet tall. In order to curry her behind I have to stand on the mounting block steps to see if I get the job done.

WOW, I like that idea. Unfortunately we can't have anything like that here. Water table is too high. We would have to get a semi trailer and bury it above ground--not sure how sturdy that would be in a hurricane.

Deb, I really love your horse.

Lisa :)
