The Front Porch Swing

" I have a front porch "Chicken Swing"..

I am a new BYC''' member and an Artisan by day..so the social media is second nature thing... to me..

In brief... I hand craft all kinds of wooden chicken.. the only difference between my chickens and the real chickens.. Well.. the real chickens need to be feed.

So here is my "Chicken on a Swing"....

You can see many of my chickens and a whole lot more at http://exhibitionnest.com/my-profile/913/anthony-raffaele/

This makes me want to learn from someone how to do these things. Cities cause us to lose all this know! It's sad.

yes.. I only learnt using the leaves and some stems for Malaria prevention but now that I'm here malaria is not prevalent here, I would probably still not make it cause it was bitter as **** even adding pure honey didn't quite make it enjoyable to drink. As for the barks and roots for arthritis and gout I didn't learn and my dad doesn't know the English names of the trees they come from. We only had two of the trees at home. I use ginger, honey and stinging nettle most now

Last Dec I also learnt using fresh laid egg and pure unfiltered honey when mom made for my niece who has Cerebral palsy and could not cough up/out phlegm.

What is a walking onion? When you say it keeps going you mean it keeps walking? Am I going to have to chase down dinner?

Asparagus. That'll fit right in. Everbearing strawberries stay fun all summer. There have to be some root veggies that self replicate ... Blueberry bushes ... Nut trees. Chestnuts are supposed to be great with poultry. But trees take a lot of space.

Yes! Nut trees! Brilliant. I have always wanted to add nut trees to the orchard. They might be even happier if I put them on the edge of the woods.

we have hazelnut trees here (a huge one), and I hope to plant more types... Pecan? Almond? Walnut (watch out they are allelopathic).

What does allelopathic mean? Oh is it like black walnut the roots kill off other plants?

Thanks for the Jerusalem artichoke idea too. I thought they would grow here but the nurseries are providing them so ill give it a go.

And Bruce thank you for the raised bed suggestion. I think I will make done of those around the patio because I really don't think I could do without fresh tomatoes.

Notice how food-centric the Porch is today?

I got my Jerusalem artichokes at the grocery store in the organic section!
