The Front Porch Swing

I probably should post this on another thread, but this thread is the busiest!!! :D Here is a pic of one of the maran eggs I'm going to put under the broody. It has a tiny chip of shell missing. The membrane is not ruptured, so should I use it to hatch?
Duct Tape!! Ha! Just kidding I know zero about hatching. But what about a little bandage? Didn't I see something like that on one of these threads?

Been on quite a few hatching lists.... I say cover it with a little patch of celphane tape. Some use wax.... Its worth a try

Wow!!! I am gonna have to catch up here!! This thread goes so fast! :th But here is what I did this morning. Homemade strawberry jam made from fresh strawberries right from our patch! And the beauty of this recipe is I didn't have to use pectin or processed white sugar!!! :clap It's just strawberries, maple syrup (which we made ourselves this spring), and chia seeds! The chia seeds provide the thickening as they absorb liquid. Chia seeds they say are higher in omega 3 than flax seed, so some good nutrition in the mix. The maple syrup is from the first batch we made which is light and has more of a carmely taste than maple. It is soo good and I can't taste syrup and the chia seeds has little to no flavor. I did add extra coconut sugar as my strawberries are a little tart. But it came out sooo good! I never have been able to make jam. It always comes out runny. Use it for icecream topping! :D I'm going to put it in the freezer, as I read it doesn't can well, and now I don't remember the reason why. :/
What a cool idea!!!!! Is there a recipe for this type of jam, or did you invent it? Is is so clever!

It's time for a Penguin update. The Freedom Mutts are all looking like little chickens ... little gravy boats covered in smooth feathers everywhere with little tail handles sticking out behind them. All of them except Penguin ... who looks like a soccer ball.

Here s/he is running away from me as usual. No tail at all.

This is the bush where the Freedom Hen hatched her Freedom Mutts. We found 14 eggs in there today ... nobody sitting on them, just a nice place to lay if the official nesting boxes are somehow unsuitable, I guess.

Public side, private side, inside views. It's a little weeping spruce.

Um, so at this point I guess confessing to loving a steaming bowl of Campbell's creme of tomato soup with a big blop of butter and a balogna sammich would be a sacrilege??
No Ma'am! Hold the butter and make it a fried bologna sammich and we are sisters from another mother! :)

If I were a chicken that would be my dream nest
