The Front Porch Swing

Me too!! I am so glad I didn't sell those eggs!! It sure made me have second thoughts about selling eggs to people. I think I am going to get or make a good candler and start checking them all.

Let me know if you can find a good one. I'm not having much luck with my flashlight LED Can't see well enough. If there something I can put around it.

Good Morning!

What do you think of my new pet?

I was coming back from the mailbox and found him climbing up the side of our house. That is the 2nd one I have seen in 3 years. He is fairly quiet. Doesn't get upset when I touch him.

Lisa :)

Are your totally stupid? Everybody knows that spiders bite. Ok, that's my fear talking. I don't get close to them. If you want a pet, go ahead.

Actually, and go ahead and ask me how I know this, the worst time of year to have a birthday is Labor Day.

I'm not very into birthdays, either. Basically, I'm not into holidays where I'm the center of attention. Or holidays where you're supposed to give gifts and be organized enough to send timely cards. I'm worse with holidays where I'm supposed to get gifts. Honestly, unless it's food or flowers I already know I don't want it. At all. I don't even really want to look at it. But please stare at me while I open it. And make sure I get my "surprise!" & "I'm about to burst with pleasure" & "aren't you so clever for buying it" faces sequenced just right. "Thanks!"

I'm a little better with food holidays, but not much. It kinda sucks the air out of the room when everyone is doing competitive cooking, ("I made nutty designs on the top of the pecan pie, I made the crust from scratch" and "the cranberry sauce is raw ... we're following an all raw fruititarian diet now and I've never felt better") and I'm like, "That 40 lb turkey? I've been "cooking" it for 8 months. I plucked it with my bare hands. Ima gonna cook its feet tomorrow."

That said, the only birthday party I've ever had that was anywhere near my birthday and not just tacked on to someone else's birthday party as an afterthought was thrown by my friends in England. They didn't know from Labor Day.
You go girl. Bahahahhaa

McMurray's has two. One is a box thingy but it says that it gets hot pretty quick so you can't use it long. They also have a plug-in one that looks pretty good. You can get replacement bulbs for it. It's around $11 I think. I think one like the box can be built pretty easily.

My step-son's birthday is April 17th, Amelia's April 21st. I figured with birthdays so close together it would make for one BIG birthday. Rent a bouncy castle kind of thing. Thomas loves bouncy castles... and has not a clue what a birthday is (his is in January). I'm sure once they're older they want their own thing. Ofcourse, my step-son gets a party at his mom's house too, so it wouldn't be that big a deal.

My birthday is August 30th, DH is August 27th. I always told him we should get married inbetween and call it celebration week. Nice and easy once the kids are grown, only have to get off one week a year to celebrate everything

My youngest niece and son both have April 4th as there birthday. On my sons second birthday and my nieces fifth we rented a beach house is Oregon and took them to the aquarium. No gifts. Then Easter was right after there birthdays that year (my son wa born on Easter) and so we had Easter at the beach house too! As a rule we don't do gifts really, but this year we had a dinosaur bday party with a bounce house, fossil dig and each kid got to bring home a dinosaur egg to crack and see what dinosaur was inside. No gifts, just fun. It was great! And I made a dinosaur cake compleat with a volcano with lava coming out.
My husbands birthday is April 24th. We got married august 22nd.... It's a good wedding date ;) I guess I have good luck with boys born in April! Haha

My birthday is August 9th, just when teasel flowers, the weeds have won the battle for the veg garden, and you start to feel summer wrapping up. And I have never wanted any gifts either. Every single birthday of my life I have asked for one thing and one thing only. (Except when I was one but I was probably thinking it): I WANT TO GO TO THE BEACH!!
And I go, with whoever will go with me and spend the whole day, even in the rain. I even went the time I broke my pelvis and the kids pushed me out into the surf on an inner tube. Mind when the surf pushed me back to land and bounced my bottom on the sand spits, maybe not my brightest idea.
