The Front Porch Swing

My favorite potato is "All Red." It's been replaced by Adirondack Red But it's a red skinned potato with red (pink) flesh. It tastes a bit "wilder' than a white potato, has a wonderful texture, and is great in potato salad. Unsuspecting folks who've had my potato salad made with the red fleshed potatoes will comment, " Oh! I've never had ham in potato salad. What a neat idea, I really like it!" Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get any for a couple of years. Perhaps next year!

I haven't been able to get on here much lately but just wanted to drop in and say hello to all you fine folks and hope you're enjoying Summer thus far !

Btw, only read back a few pages but noticed Bee hasn't posted lately. Anyone know where she is ? I hope everything is ok.

I put a layer of the thumb sized potatoes on the bottom of the roasting pan drizzled enough Olive oil to make herbage stick.... Sea salt Pepper and grnulated garlic. Then I sprinkle the chicken inside and out with Salt Pepper Garlic powder AND poultry seasoning... Stuff inside three whole Garlic bulbs.... then lay the chicken on top.... Roasted at 450 degrees for 1 hour 15 minutes or so.... I actually turned the oven off at one hour and let carry over heat from the oven finish the cooking.... Because it would be a while before my Son got home. Stayed hot and skin crispy till he got here too.

Juciest chicken I ever carved. AND the potatoes get a bit of a smash just enough to expose the starch inside and the pan juices dribbled over top.

The family usually likes chicken to "fall off the ones" but that usually means the breast meat is Dry dry dry and the rest just doesnt feel like it has any nutritional value... I got it right this time.... Cooked through yet tender AND juicy....

Thanks Pioneer woman....

No banana bread, how about grasshopper cake?
I was actually thinking about making a banana cake with peanut butter frosting, but creme-de-mint and chocolate won out.

DH has been sending visitors home with bouquets of rhubarb.

It almost sounds like zucchini, don't leave the car doors unlocked or he will load up the back seat. I guess he really does not like rhubarb! He says it is over 3 feet tall.
I said there were a couple of recipes that I wanted to try, he says "don't expect me to try them".

Welcome back, Blooie! ... time to recover from your vacation... my parents really loved their Alaskan cruise.
