The Front Porch Swing

Everytime you share an Austin storey it makes me smile. I think people deal with this in different ways and I know I said it once already, but I don't think we are met to get over loosing a child, or grandchild. How can you? But it sounds like he brightened everyone's life and he still is with the stories you tell. I will be thinking of you.

Yeah, I smile everytime I think of my Daddy. He was a wonderful man. He died 8 years ago. I was the one who saw his last smile, with him alone when he took his last breath. I missed him but I chose to not grieve, just smile.

It's raining! I keep reading all these threads where people are complaining about how much it's raining and all the storms. Here I am, where it always rains and is foggy all the time and we have almost no rain or fog lately!

This is the rainfall so far this year compared to are average. Also the ducks are enjoying the rain! Had to move there food inside there coop though!

It rained here last night. Maybe 1/4 inch.....rolling eyes.....my hay man is delivering 2 large round rolls on saturday. He told me that if we don't get significant rainfall SOON he won't have any more hay for me. He has already sold all of his replacement heifers from last fall calving.

If we don't get rain, in July he is going to sell all of his cows that are 6 years old or older...... I have never seen it this dry in june before.

I know, it's so bad here. We are lucky that we got two bigger storms a few months ago that dumped on us. It's shocking how fast global warming can change an area!

I have watched the fields around here slowly moving their flood zone a bit further every year. We don't even have a puddle in the spot it used to gush water over the road years ago. The swamps on the roadside keep moving further away too. Which is fine cuz it keeps them varmints farther away from the house.

No it doesn't rain like it used to, but when it does, wow the flooding is crazy.

I've been noting that we need rain over here and today I was checking the weather forecast, it said 30% chance of rain at 1pm through 2am, its now past 7pm still no rain...ooh no there was like 3 drops earlier

. I'm really praying it rains soon like tonight.

You all have a good one

I'm hopeing it won't get that bad here. It's still a wet area. But the weather is freaking me out a bit! Ducks are pretty happy to see some rain. I'm sure they will be little mud balls tonight!

When we moved to San Diego in 1967 We actually had snow fall in the winter... it was so amazing the schools let the kids out to see it and experience it.

The San Diego River would flood for a good ten years after that. There were parts of Mission Valley that had water marks on the buildings... fifteen feet up.

Those were just the years we got 22 inches of rain.

Now the whole mission valley area that flooded is built up with High rise Condos. Yep they dredged the river... Which 99 percent of the time is only about four inches deep.

We had three inches of rain last year.... Trees are dying... certain species that normally depend on ground water.

we had two days of 105 degrees in January.... First time ever in recorded temps.

sigh
