The Front Porch Swing

Sometimes it would be nice to know how she's doing. Send our love and ask if it is ok to share. Thanks honey

Same here, I barely got to know he but I miss her something awful. She helped me sooo much in the beginning. Sending

The beach, what is that? I'm in NW La and nothing around. Like the idea of a Margarita.

Yeah, but watch out for the blue margaritas....while I was on the cruise I was warned by a wise Porch Sitter that she drank something blue with a straw and didn't remember much after that. Me being me, instead of avoiding that ominous sounding blue drink I had to try one. I'd tell ya how that went, but, um, I can't remember. Of to see doctor-man....will catch up later. Thanks for passing on my thoughts about O Wise One. Hey, that's how we can refer to her and not get, well, censured!

I think Clover is adorable, gimpy foot/leg, raggedy feathers and all! Perfect name, too.....

We've missed your smiling little face too, Lindz! You ain't kidding about this thread moving fast - sometimes when I'm out and about I'll do a quick skim, but by the time I got home I can't find a post I meant to comment on.

Guilty here too!

It's dreary here too this morning, but supposed to clear up by mid-morning and then get a little hot again. Last evening was glorious. There was just enough of a breeze to keep the bugs down, and I can't remember the last time I saw so many colors in one sunset - it was like a rainbow! We still have a little smoke in the air from the wildfires in Canada - not enough to really notice but enough to make sunrises and sunsets stunning!

I have some exciting news too! Yesterday Katie was sitting on my couch eating an apple. (I know, I know - eating in the living room. But it's Gramma's house, after all, so Gramma rules apply) Kendra was sitting on Jenny's lap at the kitchen table while we visited. After she finished her piece of apple she got squirmy so I took her and carried her into the living room. Instead of sitting like she normally does when I put her down, her legs stayed out stiff so I stood her up instead. I held only one of her hands so I could help her if she decided to sit. She spotted Katie's apple and took the two steps to the couch, holding only one of my hands! This is HUGE!!! I called Jenny and Tammy in and set it up again. She did it again, too! Tam actually started crying! Now we have all the rest of this week and part of next until Wednesday to practice this new skill, and when Cindi (her physical therapist) sees this she's gonna flip out!

If any of you are in communication with she-who-resides-solidly-in-our-hearts-but-must-temporarily-remain-nameless would you tell her that I miss her wise words!! Been thinking about her a lot the last couple of days. Thanks!
Blooie, that's fantastic about Katie. What a treat. Has the name of the queen of hives been banned? Also, any who speak to the queen, send my love, and my contact info if you have it.

Good luck with the Doc.

So work on coop is moving along, but yesterday was all about removing the wood stove that was all corroded and falling apart in the pole barn. Separated the blower and the pipes just hung there from the roof. Weird...Up on the roof my son and I went to figure out the puzzle of why the dang pipe wouldn't just disconnect from the stove. Long story short, and some serious demolition later with my mini sledgehammer
celebrate.gif
(dang that felt good, it's been too long since I have destroyed something LOL) we pulled the pipe up through the roof and stuffed a 5 gal bucket in the hole. Perfect fit until we can patch the roof hole with the extra siding. SCORE!

When hubby was here last week, we got the run started but of course he left me to finagle the hardware cloth. Yay...
he.gif
That stuff is the devil's spawn. Flattening it to cut it is like trying to unroll Dante's Inferno. Just when you think you are close, BAM, it tears you apart. Maybe I'll invent something to help with that. I need to get the run done so I can release them from the coop.

Anyway, the chicks are now 10 weeks and 6 weeks and they are doing great sorting out their pecking order. The only thing I worry about is my Welsummer bantam, Sass, is so tiny. She is now the smallest one in the coop, except in attitude.
fl.gif
No one pushes her around so I figure she'll be fine. I just worry about them stepping on her as they all are getting so dang big.

And, I wish I had a photo, but I went out past the coop the other day and Mica, (stone cold killer barn cat) was hanging spread eagle from the coop's hardware cloth door! She wanted to badly but she cannot get in. Geez, is she persistant! It's funny because she can't see or hear them unless she is in direct contact with them, so she must have just walked by the open outer door like I did and spotted them. She likes to nap on the roof or in the barn so she had never seen the inside of the coop.

Now I know we must find her a new barn to hunt in. She will for sure kill any bird left in her line of sight now. She has always been a handful, she is so pretty and can be sweet at times but mostly a psychotic ball of fur.
hide.gif
It will be tough to lose her, but the other two cats just sit there and watch her anytime her attacks something so I know they probably won't be an issue and will stay. No guarantees, I know.

Bwhahahahahahah...... Depending on where your cruise is it could be a Blue Hurricane.... in Hawaii a Blue Hawaii

Blue Hawaii.... Rum Curaco and sometimes Vodka the Curaco gives it a blue tint.... and mixed with Sprite over ice.

Blue hurricane.... Rum, Gin, Vodka, Tequilla, Blue Curaco, Cherry brandy, some sweet and sour, and some orange juice.

The one I had was Hurricane because I knew a friend who went to a Hurricane party and said they were yummy.... So I wanted to find out how much.....

The only drink I have had that was stronger was a long island Iced Tea..... A whole other story... involving my favorite dance floor a country and western concert.... and a nice stranger.

I second that thought.
also has any one heard from oldmomma recently I've been thinking about her too.

My husband installed our new ador automatic chicken door yesterday. I feel guilty about the expense, to me this is as frivolous as a diamond incrusted broom. But, I totally love it.

Congratulations! Lucky Porcher! But if I had to chose, I'd take the diamond encrusted broom. I can always open the pop door, but if I'm gonna fly, I'm gonna go in style!

As a bartender throughout college days, I really hate the name game for drinks. College town was worst because everyone is from somewhere else. I love blue Hawaiians.

I used Blue Curaco when I was in college to make a marinade for boneless/skinless chicken - I don't remember what the recipe was but it called for Triple Sec and Blue Carucao was all I had, so close enough. We called it Smurf and it was mighty tasty. Can you tell I'm an 80's gal?

I'm not a tea drinker - I have tried and tried, but just do not like the taste of tea - iced or otherwise. Closest I drink is herbal mint teas.

Try a Long Beach sometime - yummy! very close recipe to a Long Island - double the rum, skip the tequila and use Cranberry juice instead of the coke. Very refreshing after a hot day in the garden.
