The Front Porch Swing

Fermented feed... gives a good dose of probiotics. Kind of like comparing yogurt to milk. They both start out being the same product, but all the happy little bacteria in the yogurt make it easier to digest, and yogurt infuses your gut with those good bacteria to boost your immune system. Supposedly, chickens who are on a FF diet have more villi per square inch according to one previous writer... Don't ask me for a reference, but you might want to do a little research on FF and compare it to articles written about the benefits of yogurt and probiotics. I can tell you that chicken poop is well formed, dryer, and no where near as stinky when the flock is on FF. They also don't drink as much water (most likely b/c they get a lot of hydration from the liquid in the FF) and a bag of feed will last a lot longer.

Did ya ever have one of those vacations? Came to South Dakota to make sure Little Diane was recovering from the assault and see how Linda's progressing after her bypass. Got here last night. This photo of Ken was taken in the ER this morning. It's now 4:15 pm CT and I'm still in the waiting room.....he's still in preop for emergency surgery to remove his infected gall bladder. Glad we took a vacation.

Oh my Gawd.... nothing hurts worse than a gall bladder attack. I thought I was going to die I screamed with every breath and scared my mom and dad to death.... the moment we went into the ER.... the pain went away and I was like... Oh let me go home now.... EVERYONE SAID NO. dang.

HOpe his was as unevntful recovery wise as I was. When I came home it looked like they stuck me with a fork... Three spots along my ribs and one lower.... I was back to normal in about three days with only a slight diet change for a couple of weeks

We weren't that lucky today, Deb. He'd had a hernia repair several years ago using mesh - pretty well eliminated chances of laparoscopic surgery. But it went well and he may be discharged late tomorrow or early Friday - just in time for the 12 hour drive home with Katie and Evsn. Poor guy!

I'm glad it went well, but sorry this happened. Hope he heals fast!
