You just have to check out the egg I got from Ida this morning. Evan and Katie spent the night here last night so she went out to get eggs after they ate breakfast. She came in with this! I asked her if she saw who laid it and she said, "Ida was just getting off the nest when I went in." The egg was super warm when Bug brought it in. Ida? Are you kidding me? Size wise she's the smallest chicken I have! I've been joking that in order to figure out who laid it I was going to check and see which hen was limping! But if Katie saw Ida, then she saw Ida - she knows every one of those chickens!

The egg I'm using for comparison weighed out as an xtra large at 70 grams! Dying to crack this one open and see if there's any surprises inside.

Blooie, I was so thrilled by my first egg the other day. So tiny. I go into the house to show Aimee my DD. She's so smart and articulate that I can't ever win an argument. She looked at it and said "Oh, you mean the egg that came out of a chickens butt.? sigh. I said, "yes, just like every other egg in the world it came out of her butt" To be honest they didn't want me to raise chickens. So I'm going to be buying my very own freezer to put in the storeroom that I bought so I can raise chickens and EAT then. I may be the only one eating them but, by God, I'm gonna do it.

Blooie, I was so thrilled by my first egg the other day. So tiny. I go into the house to show Aimee my DD. She's so smart and articulate that I can't ever win an argument. She looked at it and said "Oh, you mean the egg that came out of a chickens butt.? sigh. I said, "yes, just like every other egg in the world it came out of her butt" To be honest they didn't want me to raise chickens. So I'm going to be buying my very own freezer to put in the storeroom that I bought so I can raise chickens and EAT then. I may be the only one eating them but, by God, I'm gonna do it.

Um, so does she think human babies come from the mommy's butt? Hate to be graphic, but I've heard the same remark and for some reason it's so hard to convince them that there's one opening but two separate "chutes!" Oh, well, more for me!

I had a double yolker pullet egg yesterday. It was a normal size egg, but I guess it was a big pullet egg. The yolks were the size of grapes

Cracked open that 112 gram egg. Inside were two complete eggs - not just a double yolker but two complete eggs. Chickens are odd creatures!

I'm sure it happens a lot, but I'd never seen it either. Wish I hadn't nicked a yolk with the edge of the shell when I opened it. Beautiful, ain't it?
