The Front Porch Swing

My grandmother had green eyes. My sister has them and one of her daughters has them. Little Diane's mom has blue and her dad has brown. But she inherited her great-grandmother's green eyes AND her dad's brown ones. The result is the most amazing pair of eyes I've ever seen.

Are they green? Or are they brown?

Amelia's eyes might be just like Bumbley's then. I don't think Bumbely's ever were blue though....just fluctuate between brown and green. Still do, depending on lighting and what she's wearing. Amelia's sure a little cutie pie! I just love her chubby little cheeks!

Looks to me like one adorable crew of little ones!

Somewhere I have a photo of Little Diane when she thought she wanted blue eyes like Grammas and she got contacts - she ended up in that photo looking very Liz Taylor-like. Let me poke around and see if I can find it It's a funny picture because it looks so little like her!

Found it! Doesn't look a bit like her, does it?

This was shortly before she took off for that long awful time a few years ago....silly girl said later if she'd thought to grab her contacts they'd probably not have found her - they were looking for "eyes that looked like brown and green M&Ms!"

Out of the 5 daughters my parents had, we all have different colored eyes. My eyes are blue, but various shades of blue. My younger sister, who is also blond, has eyes that very from grey, green and brownish. One of my older sisters has brown eyes.

Thomas has figured out Halloween!

He actually walked most of the way (as long as he had some candy in his mouth to distract him from the fact I was holding his hand). When we got to the car I put him in and he came right back out to come get the pumpkin. Haha. He had to hold it on our way home and actually shoved some in my hand to open for him (the closest thing to asking for help he's ever done). He said trih-trea (trick or treat) afterward, when we were away from all the craziness.

He's now eating the spoils of his hard work. Gluten free? Dairy free? Doubt it. We'll deal with the consequences tomorrow.

I am SO proud of my little guy. Sure, half of Montevallo wonders why my kid is laying in the middle of the road while everyone walks around him. Don't care! He's my superstar!

That's great! Go Thomas!!!! My son is pretty excited for trick or treating tonight. My husband might take him over to my aunt and uncles around four, then back here to trick or treat.

My pterodactyl! Don't judge to harshly, he HAD to be a pterodactyl and online costumes were like $50! I'm not paying $50 for a costume! So I made it.... and I'm not crafty, but he didn't complain.

I like it!

Heck, Thomas was wearing Johnathan's old costume, Johnathan was wearing jeans, boots and a shirt he owned.. I spend $3 on a made-in-china hat off Ebay and handed him a bandana. Millie's outfit I got for 50 cents at a yardsale.

I spent $20 on candy to hand out.. which was gone by 7:15.. which was good, millie wanted to be fed and 7 is bedtime for Thomas (although he's still awake)

That's the way to do it! We have a whole chest of costumes that were given to us, but he is super into dinosaurs and prehistoric animals right now. It's crazy. We have rented and watched online every BBC or natural geographic dinosaur or prehistoric animal shows we can find. And there all aimed for adults and he's just obsessed! So he HAD to be a pterodactyl.... No way he was going to change his mind. He had fun painting the beak and fun trick or treating.... more fun handing stuff out though! Lol
