The Front Porch Swing

This is a weight loss update for those who were interested. And a bit of a brag cuz I feel really good about this.

I just had my six month post op visit and am pleased to say I am no longer obese, just overweight. I am down 55 lbs and 33" combined for the areas I measured. I was hoping to have arrived at my goal weight by now but had a setback in November when I developed a 13 centimeter cyst on my liver. Most painful thing I have experienced but it is gone now so I am back on plan. They drew blood work to make sure I'm getting all the vitamins I need (I'm. Not) so I'll get the results of that next week and I know I'm not drinking enough water so I need to work on that.

So far the only real bummer side effect has been hair loss over the last three months but that seems to be slowing down now. Hopefully when I up the vitamins based on blood work it will stop completely.

20-25 more pounds to go to hit goal.

Congratulations! I'm behind on what exactly you've been doing but getting healthy is always something to celebrate. I am sorry that you've had some painful things to deal with, but you seem to be doing really well otherwise and that makes me incredibly happy.

Vitamins, vitamins, vitamins! Ugh, I'm still avoiding my iron pills even though I'm anemic. They do not make me feel that great. But they keep the migraines away, so I need to take them. A little discomfort is better than a little discomfort.

Way to go! I'm so happy for you!

Nice job! Keep up the work. I don't mean to pry, so feel free to ignore the question, but you mention surgery. Did you have a gastric bypass done?

Thanks IBE. Welcome back. I applaud you commitment to "yes". Years ago I got tired of watching everyone else have fun and made the same commitment. I highly recommend it. I would rather regret one or two things I have done than to regret not having tried something!

On the weight loss, I had gastric sleeve surgery last July. So far I'm very glad I did it.

not prying at all, I had the gastric sleeve, this is where they cut out two thirds of your stomach but no re routing of intestines.

Aw, thank you! It's funny because I only get chatty when I'm one on one with someone or I'm online. I guess that's the miracle of the internet. We introverts have a chance to express ourselves without overwhelming ourselves with loads of energy-sucking social interactions. I get exhausted after family get-togethers because I always have to be on-point. I know some people just flourish with that kind of thing and I admire that, but I'm a better introvert than an extrovert. One of the pros is being somewhat eloquent online!

Same here, it's awful. My family doesn't get it, they are all social butterflies.

I mop about one a month because of all the dirt I end up tracking in after spending time with the chickens. However, I've seen my brother's dorm room and he really has no room to complain. For someone who proclaims himself to be immaculate, I saw an awful lot more underwear on his bed than I wanted to. TMI

brothers ugh

I'm ready to say yes to mostly everything! I'll keep drugs and excessive alcohol out of the cards, but I want to open myself up to new experiences.Good for you.

It's a nasty thing. I would avoid it at all costs. Wouldn't want to get into the habit.
