The Front Porch Swing

You need an adjustable height work table. It really wouldn't be too hard to make one... all you need is time... HA! Trust me, you need to take care of your body by using good body mechanics while you're young, so it doesn't pooch out on you when you're older. All those little postural injuries creep up on you right along with the birthdays. I'm not yet 60, but can't get a night's sleep because of the joint issues I've accumulated over the years.

I do have an adjustable drafting table, but I couldn't work in the garage for awhile. It's probably a good thing. Getting cat hair on my freshly sealed chair would have really sucked.

But I do try my best not to get injured and I listen to my bod pretty well. This is just one of those things were when I'm in the right mindset, I can hold a position for hours and when I lift my head, something is freshly painted and it's dark outside all of a sudden. Or, as it was today, the sun came up just as I finished sealing this chair. :)

Still, you're right. I'm not gonna be 22 forever!

Everyone's been so busy! I've been working (actual work and not my garage "work") lately and have nearly completed a chair for a client of mine. It needs some touch ups but it should be done by Wednesday morning for her to pick up before she moves back to Mexico! :D

I also need to finish up an egg for someone and a couple mugs, but I'm swamped. I desperately need my drafting table for these heavy chairs but it is out if commission until I can clear it of all the boxes that are on top of it.

The good news is that we are nearly done in the garage. I'm picking up the insulation tomorrow, some floor flanges and a couple other goodies to finish up the garage so I can move in. My brother wants his room back (but he can wait another day. If he really wanted it back, he would pick up a paintbrush and help me with the garage).

Great artwork there !! That is from one artist to another!! Keep it up! It is very rewarding to be able to actually support yourself on your creative juices. Takes courage too! Don't give up no matter what!!

Thank you! It's always nice when other artist's appreciate my work.

I'm really trying to mesh the furniture and art stuff. I enjoy both and I acknowledge that furniture is worth more to most people around here than traditional canvas artwork. But I'm hoping I can do both and make a living. It's slow going now but I'm nearly done clearing my workspace and I'm super excited! :D

Well, the furniture is a way to get exposure and develop a name. Always have some canvas work hanging around your chairs so people see it. If you do craft fairs do the same thing. Show the furniture but mix your canvas work in too. You will be surprised but you will get some notice eventually. It takes lots of patience. (And courage to persist and not give up) also, the furniture is a definite income so your not starving waiting for your canvas work to take off.
