The Front Porch Swing

Walls are good!
Does it look huge when you are there in person? Have you walked through your house yet to get a feel for the rooms? excitement, excitement!!
I think building a house would be very exciting - but stressful. I hope to never go through it and be in our current place for the rest of my days! Time to take road trip to pick up a lottery ticket. $265 million jackpot! gotta have at least 1 ticket - it gives me an excuse to dream big! what to do if I win!

Here is a topic for discussion: if you had a million dollars to do good in the world - what would you do?

I would: Use some of it to develop a program to give all of the folks who are living in section 8 housing in my area an education on gardening, and set them up with a raised bed veggie garden.
I would: Use some of it to develop a training program that would teach young folks a trade, like basic auto mechanics, and have them provide that car maintenance for single Mom's and other folks with need for auto assistance.
I would: Provide medical assistance, prescription coverage for the many folks who earn too much for medicare, but fall through the cracks on getting their medical needs met. you know the ones I'm talking about: they have to make a choice between groceries and medication, heating oil and medication...

I don't even have to think about this. 3/4 of it would go to DEBRA to fund research and education and bandaging supplies for EB patients. If they even got a donation of $20.00 that would be more than they currently see. The other 1/4 would be used to invest in something as stable as I could find with any profits going to DEBRA.

It does now. It has gone through looking small when they were framing the foundation to looking enormous when they had the decking down to making sense when the walls started going up. It IS exciting, AND stressful but mostly fun. I've done it before but never from total scratch like this one.

The million dollars question is tougher. Pediatric and cancer are two words that should never be used in the same sentence. Likely find some way to fund research.

I would teach people how to Draw... and work with Drafting software... Teach a man to fish....or woman... I have a friend who knows how to do a non profit too.

Busy day at Oleo Acres today! Kenny, Jenny and Kendra are in Denver picking up her new braces so I have big sister Katie for a few days. Since the kids are also Evan's sitters while Tam works, I get to have him too. So got two grandkids hanging around and they needed to keep busy! I had just the thing!

Sent them out to the garden to help Grampa bring in what will probably be the last of the harvest. They brought in tomatoes, beets, a couple of giant zucchini that were overlooked, and some cukes.

Out with Grampa.

Um, yep, those are some big zucchini!

Katie gets started washing and de-stemming tomatoes.

Working together to get them peeled and ready for the freezer.

All done! Nice job, kids!

After supper we'll be getting excess eggs in the freezer. Sure love having help from these terrific grandkids!
