The Genetics of Silver Laced - Question!

I'd have thought it depended upon the breed being made, desired e-allele & e-allele of silver laced birds, colour of legs required etc.

If the bird the OP wishes to make is on eb & the silver laced bird is on eb like wyandottes or cochins, an eb silver columbian would be the quickest route because the only genes which need to be picked up are Pg-Ml, which have linkage & will most often be inherited together.

I think if the silver laced are on ER, like Polands or sebrights, which I believe are 'pure' for ER, Co, Db-Ml-Pg, it would take longer but a silver columbian bird would probably still be the fastest option because they still have more genes in common with silver laced than any of the other colours mentioned.

I'm sure it could be done a variety of ways.

Well when I did it with dun and silver laced that is what I got, the males showed some lacing and the females showed almost no lacing. When the F1 were crossed back to silver laced I got mostly laced offspring. So since dun is a dilute of black it should be the same idea depending on what breed the original poster is talking about.
