The girls' first night out ....and look who comes a visitin'!

Could not believe it...We put the girls out in their new coop and within 5 hours the dogs were going nuts barking. But the 30-30 I won in the gun raffle took care of him quite nicely.

He had to be at least 25 lbs. What is it about chickens that brings all kinds of critters into your yard?

By reading i assume your dogs treed the coon glad you got it and by the way just hope the rest of its family dont come to the funeral

We have twin border collie/beagles, Charlie and Lucy... and they treed the coon and kept him there till morning. This tree is right in our side yard about 20' from the chicken coop! Good job guys!!!

Something about the temptation of a chicken dinner..... I swear, my backyard seems like the predator superhighway lately. And I'm in the city!

OMG the same thing happened to us yesterday. We put the girls in the coop and run for the very first time and at dusk a raccoon ran through the yard. We have never ever seen a raccoon around in all the years we have lived here and within 5 hours of putting the girls out we see one.

boy am i glad we put the extra effort and money into the coop and run..
