The Happy Chicken Coop Question of the day

Sorry I've been absent. If you want to get someone's atrention you have to "tag" them. Put an @ symbol before their name with no space afterward, and spell it accurately. BYC will help you if you get it started right.

So here you go:

Probably 6 or 7. Usually 4 or 5 brown, 2 or 3 blue and 1 chocolate. That's what I've been getting lately.

Well that would be Shriek. She's a Prairie Bluebell Egger, looks like a Brown Leghorn, lays a blue egg and SCREAMS at me every morning while I clean the poop boards. Never knew a chicken had such loud pipes! She makes me laugh.
LOL!
Thanks for the valuable information!

Sorry I have not bine active recently, but here are some questions of the day.

Have you hatched your own chicks?

With an incubator? ____________________________________

Bonus:

How many chicks did you hatch?

Okay, my answer.

Have you hatched your own chicks?

With an incubator?

No.

With a hen?

Yes.

How many chicks did you hatch?

5, but we got 2 boys, so we had to put them down. 😭
We started with 11 eggs though.

I hope you enjoy this question of the day!

We hatched 2 with a hen in ‘21, a boy and a girl 🐣
and 4 in march two roos and two hens (also with a hen, the same one)

We tried incubating a couple years ago but the egg turner was broke so we had to hand turn them, but we failed at that, and none of the eggs made it 😔

The picture is the babies from this year!

Oh! So adorable!

Hatched my own chicks
With the same Wyandotte hen x 2 times, she goes broody 3 times now so far.
Bonus: Love caring for mother hen while she sits on her egg, and love watching her and her babies.
First time 2 chicks, second time 1
Total 3 chicks = 1 roo and 2 hens

Mother hen was so determined, endured, attentive to her kids and then pecked at her kids like they are her enemy at 5 week. Her kids are terrified of her, but still want to be somewhere near her, but not near enough to be pecked at violently. Now she goes broody again, I told her NO, she was lucky to had done is twice already. Someone else needs to experience it.
