A shadowy figure approaches Elle quietly and sits down beside her. She looks up, slightly alarmed, losing her balance for a second and almost falling in. She catches herself quickly before she does. "Can I trust you with a secret Elle?" The voice is soft and familiar.
"I missed you so much." Elle cries out as she reaches for the figure, but her hands fall through. "I said I was like you but that's not entirely true." Elle sits back and sniffs, wiping away her tears so she can get a better look at the strangers face. She lingers on her every word, savouring every second. "You always ask me why I don't come out In the sun, why I go away during the night, why my eyes are so unusual. I think we're close enough now. I want you to know this." Elle can feel her hand on her leg. She closes her eyes and tries to imagine she's right back there again. Ali's hair blowing gently in the wind, her crimson eyes lit up by the moon. She can see her smiling, hear them both laughing. She opens her eyes slowly and she's alone again. She's gone. And now she's All alone.
"Come on, the water's great" a small smile spreads across Elle's face. She hears the splashing of the water. "Come on Elle!" Ali laughs grabbing Elle's hand. She takes it and follows her down to the water. "Look it's perfect, it's not that strong tonight. Promise I won't let you drown." She says playfully. "I trust you." Elle says as she steps out into the water. Ali backs away further and further into the river, the water rising above her chest. Elle follows her eagerly, chasing her out into the darkness. The water rushes against her, she struggles to keep her grip, but Ali reaches out and grabs her. She smiles contently as the water fills her lungs, The night engulfing her as she sinks into the depths.
