The Hawk from Hell

Pics
I had one of my girls get maimed on Monday and another killed on Tuesday morning. I actually caught it--a red-tailed hawk, it turns out--really big. And I did the flap the fire pit cover--nothing. Grabbed a 2x4 and started swinging and yelling. It hopped--WITH MY CHICKEN STILL IN ITS TALONS--about five fee away. I finally used it like a louisville slugger and it dropped Talullah and flew to the top of the swing frame. It took much more swinging and swearing to get it to fly away.

Soo, my girls are confined to the run, at least until the weekend when I can be outside with them. I hung up several CDs, dragged out the old Halloween witch/scarecrow and set her up in a lawnchair and bought one of those bobble-headed owls. I know people see things sitting on them, but I'm moving it every day, so maybe that will help? I hope it loses interest soon--they've never had to stay in the coop/run area other than during a hurricane.

Good luck!! They're gorgeous, but when they're after the birdies, not so much.
