The heating pad brooder works!

Thanks for the instructions for making a heating pad brooder — it’s working great! I used welded wire fencing, shaped like a tunnel with a Press-n-Seal covered heating pad draped over. I like being able to shape the tunnel higher on one end so the chicks can decide what temp they want.

Sure happy it is working for you might turn the pad down they normally go under not over it​

Mine went under at night, and if they got cold. But they also liked to roost on it.

They sleep under it, but like to sit on top in the morning as it cools off every night here in the mountains.

nice yes you are, think you have a nifty set up I use the same if silky are not cooperating

I’m so delighted to read this! I love Mama Heating a Pad and what it does for chicks and my own peace of mind! They do love to sit on top of it or snuggle around it. It’s very suggestive of the way they do the same thing with a broody hen. I think that’s my favorite thing about MHP - if the broodies just don’t cooperate timing wise, this is absolutely the closest thing! It’s fun watching chicks act just as they were pre-programmed to do.....exploring, ducking under to warm up or if they get spooked, then right back out! Thank you for posting this!
