The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

100% almost. One chick partially hatched but expired before it completely hatched. Another hatch is due on Tuesday. I'm collecting eggs from some other breeding pens now and will put them in the incubator. I thought another chick was a quitter but early this morning I heard something in the hatcher and to my surprise the other chick hatched.
How did this hatch go?

I just put some eggs in from new breeder coops and pens I recently set up. These are RC RIR and SC RIR and RC RIW. My older SC RIR male didn't appear to be doing so well. Quite a few of his have been blanks. A few have hatched so now I'm using the other males to see how these hatches go. I should have started earlier but the females I'm using are out of the general population/grow-out coops and pens. They had other males and I needed for the females to clean out so I will get the chicks from these males.

I’m new to the site but not chickens. I have some productions reds but have decided I’m switching to true Heritage reds.
I don’t have a means to hatch eggs but I live in North Florida and am willing to drive to pickup chicks.

I have recently moved from the Charlotte, North Carolina area to Elizabethtown, North Carolina and I would like to know if there are any Heritage Rhode Island Red breeders in the Southeast area of North Carolina. Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone, looking for some HRIR either breeding age or chicks not looking to show just want to keep the SOP standard for keeping the bloodline going, thanks!
