The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

NYREDS,
Just wondering, do you replace all your breeders every year or part of them or....Just trying to get a feel for what a normal routine for a breeder such as yourself might be.

Thanks,
Chris

Sometimes I don't replace any if the matings were especially successful & the birds are young. Generally I replace some. Never have replaced all. Some breed for years like the 11 year old hen that hatched 8 chicks a little while ago.

What do you think the going price would be for LF RIR's shown at Lucasville by one of the top breeders?
I intend to purchase 4 to 8 birds.

I bought my Heritage RIRs for $10.00 each at a poultry show in Florida but the people I bought them from were from Georgia and didn't want to take them back to Georgia..

Thank you for the response.

Boy oh boy Matt.....you should see that lil cockeral I got from you. Wow, he is really starting to look good now!!!! I know you have a bunch of young males to sort through but by far this one is the best of the 6 males that I have right now. He might just find his way right into a conditioning pen and you just might get a chance to see him in FL.
