Bob, as far as I'm concerned learning genetic coding is one thing & breeding chickens is another. There are people who are captivated by all those symbols but they don't seem to be the same people that are producing quality birds.

Amen brother Bill, preach it.

LOL Yes I agree to its nice to know and understand some of that jargon where applicable.

I was just in an interesting goings on here the other day with one of the color (geneticist) on here. I could not convince him that I knew the formula for creating a Delaware as Mrs. Kathy has done without giving him "proof in the pudding" so to speak (all the statistical facts/numbers) even though I have her every last detail(recipe) on hand and have seen the results with my own eyeballs, and even have some of the F1 birds she used she so graciously gave me to help out with and she is waiting (saintly/patiently) for me to get all my chickens in a row and put my 2 cents of the effort in(bless her). But anyway he left the conversation still with his chest all bowed out like he accomplished a great feat by throwing all those scientific numbers and formulas out there. So, I say if that makes them happy all the equations and whatevers then so be it, I myself like to see a living tangible being with my own two eyes, then I sorta know what I'm dealing with. Surely takes some of the guessing out of it.

I like messing around with the genetics in birds, but, just because it works out in teh code, doesnt at all mean that it will work with the birds.

Thanks, I think the pullets tail is a little high, but the male I have doesnt really have any tail angle to him at all so I hope that evens out.
It's hard to tell in the picture since she is walking but if it is and the rooster has a low tail angle then some of there offspring's should be about right.

I'll need to get a picture of the Reserve Variety Rose Comb pullet. I didn't take one at the show but she came home with me.

Very nice birds. Who did Jim Hienz get his original start from? His name does not regester in my data base? bob

I'm Jim Heinz. Mine came from Trish Dusil who got her's from Gary Underwood. I got 3 more Rose Comb females (2 hens and a pullet) and a cockerel from Rollie Hutchinson at the show. Rollie got his from Gary Underwood. Gary helps Rollie set up his pens.

Bob,
Jim Heinz got his birds from Trish Dusil who is the lady that you have talked about before getting having birds directly from Gary Underwood. I got an email from Trish a month or so ago telling me that she sold out all her birds except the Welsumers. She said Jim Heinz and another man got her Underwood RIR's. Jim is who I got my Underwood eggs from and hatched 12 that are 3 weeks old tomorrow.
I think that cock bird from Gary is really nice. Also the pullet is a very nice looking bird.

So sorry Jim, you posted while I was typing my comment.
