The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

This is the year without a summer for us in this part of MI, havent had a tomato yet and most likely wont now. So I will likely not try hatching any more chicks out this year , I have some eggs in the incubator now and may have to knit those chicks some parkas when they hatch. Or sweators anyhow.

I still prefer the Rose Combs, just from following my grand mother around her flock and listening to her. But I am enjoying the body types I am seeing here on all of these.

More pics please !

Do we have any RC HRIRs in MI ??

Gary Underwood is in IL. I can tell you that when I arranged to get my 20 RC from him, I really didn't expect to have 20 healthy birds 13 weeks later. I say this because of past experience with shipping day old birds. But I have 20, only 1 is a runt, and I am TOTALLY thrilled with them. Happier with each passing week.

So... thought I'd pass that along.

There is a show in IN in October, maybe there would be some there. One of the chicken farmers near me says there will be thousands of birds there starting at day break. I'm sure my children will get up early when i tell them they get to go see fancy chickens.
