I may just have to copy that design. I really like it.
I'm trying to encourage her to make a blueprint or designs and sell them for $5-$10. Then it would be so much easier to get all the supplies at one time and put them together in the right order. Much of the details are on the various threads, but having a printed plan would be worth way more than $5 for us.

Cmom, were you at the Lake City Show? If so...I missed you some how.

Matt
No Matt, I didn't go this year. This was the first show I have missed in several years. I thought it was going to rain and as I found out the rain held off until 2:30 / 3pm. I just didn't want to drive up and get rained out. The forecast was calling for 90%. They male I got from you had a stroke. He had to be put down. I separated him and tried but he just didn't get any better. He could walk as long as I was holding him up but if I let go, over he went. I have two of his sons that I kept that look nice.

I have 2 out of 3 eggs hatched and the last one is trying. That gives me 3 -4 of my own RIR chicks from the Fogle line. The first chick 10 days old is standing very much like a male, so I'm hoping 2 of these hatching today are females.

Edit:
All 3 chicks are out. 2 have dried off and been moved into the brooder while the last to hatch is still drying off. Once slow poke is out, I'll clean and air dry the hatcher still air so that it will be ready for the next small batch. I think I like these small batches or at least that I have chicks about every 6-8 days. It makes the waiting seem so much shorter.

Thanks, I am really impressed by how nice these birds are. They are a very good size and nice too. I would be a bit more than scared if the roos were on the mean side. Funny because these roosters are so much larger than my prior roosters, yet even my children are not afraid of them.

Fred ????

I have been spending a lot of time looking at and with my Underwood Reds mainly the pullets. How are your Underwood pullets looking? Do they have nice clean tails or are they kind of laced? I have great color and confirmation on them but did notice that some have that lacing in their tail. Is that good bad or indifferent? Sure wish they would start laying. I am ready to start hatching some out.

Their tail is supposed to be all black no red edging Rob so there ya go something else to work on, that's the good thing about working with poultry there's always something to do. LOL Walt just posted today when he learns it all on these things he's gonna move onto to some other hobby(hes been at this a spell too) LOL

Tail color on my Underwood is great. These were a late May hatch and started laying in Dec. In Jan I began keeping daily production records for 8 pullets who are laying in 3 different pens. Daily rate of lay so far is 67% and not all 8 were pol when I started records.
Set my first batch of eggs on Monday.
