The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

Well... After we got over a couple of low hatch rates due to power outages I now have chicks coming out my ears. Guess I need to start shipping eggs to those who requested them. At least I'm glad the fertility is there. All eggs are fertile and hatch rate with eggs ranging up to 14 days old has been about 85%.

My eggs in the bator are Nelson line via JimmyJay. I am optimistic and also have a generator that comes on if the electricity goes out in the house so if I can keep the humidity right I'll be happy.

Here are some of the chicks that hatched yesterday from the pullet eggs. The pullets were hatched out last spring from birds I got from Matt. Here is another generation.

wow. Nice dark coloring, as well as the dark tip of the beak. Already on their way to be some great looking birds.

This bird was Champ Large Fowl at Newnan, Ga.
