Such good advice. When our ringlets started laying, we only waited two weeks and we started incubating every single egg that dropped. We were soooooooo anxious to hatch out everything we could. I really believe this to be what I'd do if I was in the position of being down to a trio. I'd not wait another day. Borrow an incubator from a friend and alternate hatches every 10 days, hatching out every single egg laid.

I would be all over incubating the eggs...got four bators standing by but no one is laying! Our Bantam Rocks are laying pretty well, but we are getting nada from our LF and Bantam Reds. I figure these birds are over eight months old so any day now...! We have been pretty lucky the past couple years with predators, and I think the Boer goats help to keep them at bay since we keep most the coops inside the goat pen.

Matt, here is another picture he is 6 months old. He doesn't really have a brick shape. Sometimes the way he stands you can see it more. I gave him a couple of standard RIR girls as I had to move him as I was having predator problems in a couple of my coops and until I can get those coops fixed they are empty and him and the 2 girls are in a big chicken tractor.

CMOM, I'm not trying to upstage your photo's but I just took a few shots of my birds from Matt this evening and wanted to post a couple of them. I have them all posted on my site but wanted to put a couple on here.
First cockerel is starting to show some brick shape, The pullets seem to be a little on the small side but on the photo's they look pretty nice sized. The last cockerel has really heavy legs on him. These birds are just starting to get some pretty nice feathering on them. These are just 4 months and I'm so used to looking at my Underwood birds and they just seemed to mature so much quicker then the other lines. lol

You have some very handsome birds. I hope mine will look as good. My pullets are a little younger than yours and still have some growing to do. I don't have any pictures but will try to get some if they will cooperate. I have some boys that are around 3 months old that I'm watching. I will keep 2 or 3 of the best of the boys.

I've picked three of these so far (boys) and I have 5 girls. I'm real anxious to see these late fall, early winter. (fingers crossed).

If this male is this young he sure has a nice brick frame showing up. Lurkers you can see the brick shape forming at such a young age. Look at the extended keel all ready showing up. Legs dead center and Jimmy this guy would be a great male to cross onto say one of your Rose Comb females next spring for Anthony and my Rose Comb Mohawk project. Thanks for the pictures. Enjoy seeing such nice old fashion Rhode Island Reds like him.
