The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

Some one asked if Don Nelson had the old Knickerbocker line. I think he got his birds from a source in Penn years ago. There was a Mr. Ward who had some great birds and I often wonder if they came from him. He had some of the old Harold Tompkins line indirectly. Lookiing at this line I see this old Tompkins look in the Nelson stain or line or gene pool or what the heck you call it.

Nice male is this a Underwood Single Comb?

Bob, if we were to both get RIR from Don Nelson and we both started a separate line breeding program (say three times in and once out)...we would end up with two lines from the strain of Don Nelson, but if I never line bred my stock then I wouldn't have a line. I believe that is correct?

My daughter just won best of show large fowl at the north east arkansas fair with fogel birds. Big thanks to Ron for getting me the trio
