The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

Both of the eggs from Sonny have hatched....still waiting on the 3 ones from pen #3 @cmom

I hope they hatch ok. I recently sold the females in #3. Have to make room for the new ones. I did hatch out some chicks from them too.

We have a similar program here with the University of Florida.
Hi cmom!

Here they are from this morning (3 days old)

And their 2 Plymouth Rock siblings

This is the website for the program here. They have beautiful chickens! https://www.heritagechickens.ca/home/

I really haven't had any exceptional issues with the RIR chicks. Once in awhile I will get a pasty butt. I raise both Rose Comb and Single Comb RIR, Rose Comb RIW, Single Comb White Leghorn, and Rose Comb Dark Brown Leghorns.

I'm hoping to expand my flock someday...we'll see how year 1 goes! The same program I got my babies from also have white leghorns and red leghorns.

I've been at this for a long time. I had my first flock around 50 years ago. Things have changed somewhat since then.Good luck and have fun...

I have a couple of males I am going to sell. I will consider selling a male with 2 or 3 females for a trio or quad. Currently they are in my grow-out coops which I need to empty to get ready for the new chicks. If anyone is interested, please send me a PM.

I hatched these RIR about 8 months ago. Anyone care to critique them? Are they heritage? Please forgive that it is raining and they are wet and I couldn't get a good pic of the rooster. He kept is neck stretched out watching hawks flying overhead. Any feedback is welcome.
