The Hidden Door-A Role Play (AKA The Most Dangerous Coffee Shop II)

"What happened to you?" Aella questioned, crossing her arms. "Did you get into a fight?"
Blair raised a brow at the newcomer, inching towards Takes side. She wasn't scared of Aella, but she definitely seemed a little...off. And the fact that she looked familiar, the thick scar running through one eye and the overall appearance of her wasn't something she'd easily forget, but she couldn't place it.
"Yup. Two dogs got sicced on me by some teenage punk." She rolled her eyes.

"Pleasure to meet you too!" Kylan said cheerily, until Ciro suddenly jumped backwards, giving a shrill yelp. Oh... Okay. That's not normal. Wait... Never-mind, he's hurt. That is normal.

Lilith watched as Ciro jerked back, glancing at Kylan. "You still carry medical stuff in that backpack of your's?" She asked gruffly, to which he nodded and pulled out some bandages and anti-bacterial, holding them out to Ciro. "Here you go." He offered.
She shifted from foot to foot, still trying to see if she could see any little boys running around, but there only seemed to be teenagers and young adults. "You hear if anyone else is missing any little ones, Kyl?"
"Um... Yeah, some girl was looking for a little boy named Noah."
"Maybe they ran off somewhere nearby to play, then?"

Kevin didn’t understand most of what he was saying, but it sounded painful. “I can help heal it,” Kevin offered, holding out his hands. “The glass needs to leave, though.”
Ciro looked from Lilith, to Kylan, to Chicken Man. Kylan had already offered bandages and ointment, so what more could Chicken Man do? Perhaps he intended to dress Ciro's wounds. But Ciro didn't want to appear any weaker than he was. Surely he could tend to the hand his own impetuosity had injured.
Or maybe, maybe, he was overthinking this.
Ciro started by graciously taking the supplies Kylan offered. "Thank you, Kylan." Then he turned to Chicken Man with a quizzical little frown. "And thank you very much as well, but I'm not sure I quite..." He suddenly brightened. "Oh, do you have the tweezers?"

Kevin grimaced. “Unfortunately, I don’t. I can heal it.” Kevin said. To demonstrate, Kevin showed Ciro his hands, which were glowing green. “But first, the glass has to be removed. Maybe the kit has tweezers.”

"No problem." Kylan said, listening to their conversation and watched as Kevin showed off his powers. "I have tweezers. The kit's case got destroyed awhile back and has just been tossed around in my backpack, is why it's all separate." He said, already dropping his black backpack to the ground and rummaging through it, before coming back up and presenting some tweezers.

"Join the club. We can give you some background, bit we don't know what's happening now." Haddie said, finishing tending her chest. She looked down at her leg. "This one's going to hurt." She muttered. "I don't suppose anyone has healing powers?" She joked halfheartedly. She sighed and grit her teeth, beginning the painful process.of cleaning it. "Kyle, wanna give her the rundown?"

"Not really." Nat shrugged, definitely looking more cool with where this topic was going than she felt. "I guess it's just that 'us kids are enough.' Or so I've been told." She only realized she'd stopped petting Rylie's throat when he butted her hand. "My parents, they...just like to keep life as easy as possible."
”Ah,” Kyle said.
Hana hesitantly stepped closer to the group for a possible explanation of what was going on, she stood near the bird looking kid, her hand now off her tsuka. She scanned the people’s faces carefully, though she didn’t recognize any of them and wasn’t the least bit intimidated by the ones with nonhuman characteristics. Her lower face unreadable as she patiently waited for the one named Kyle to speak.
Kyle took a deep breath. ”You know five months ago? In September? Perhaps you noticed an increase in the bug population during that time. A man named Will Laurel, my boss at the time, took me aside and told me about ancient manuscripts he had discovered. And some special amulets. I was hungry for adventure, so he put it upon me to put these stones in places where I found people with great potential. And they found their way to a chosen few. Then, we were sent to England to put stop to a curse on the Earth, thousands of years old. With the amulets in their proper place, the bugs that would have wiped out the human population were vanquished.” Kyle tapped his foot impatiently. ”It looks like we were called again for another purpose, and are linked somehow.”

Ciro's eyes widened with childlike wonder as he beheld Chicken Man's luminescent hands. "That's so cool," he managed finally, finding it very hard not to gape. He wasn't even going to question the authenticity of Chicken Man's claim. Really, not just anyone walked around with naturally glowing hands. Then again, he'd just met a fire-wielding woman. If he'd thought to look, she probably had glowing hands, too.
Where had these glowing hand people been all his life?
But when he took Kylan's convenient tweezers in his good hand and flattened his afflicted hand into an operable position, everything positive working on him wore off and he was left with nothing but hesitation. He stood there with his hands hovering like they were magnets of like poles. "Guau, I'm feeling really brave right about now."

Kyle's gears began turning. His foot tapping increased in tempo. ”Laurel though. After the curse was removed, he disappeared without a trace. I asked him where he was going. Borealis, he said. He never told me more about that place.”
Nat elbowed Colby in the ribs from her sitting position- which was, weirdly, a lot easier than it was when standing. "So you were telling the truth about the giant bugs. Wonders never cease."
Colby looked believably crestfallen. "I'm still upset you didn't take me at my word."
Nat rolled her eyes and, in doing so, got a chunk of mascara in her left eye. But even while she worked through that mishap, she didn't forget to keep petting Rylie. "So, since you brought it up, by any chance is this Borealis?"

Kyle's foot stopped tapping as he began to pace, but he never missed a beat. The steadily increasing rhythm carried into his fingers, tapping on the pocket of his thin homemade jeans. They were itching, searching for Rylie’s fur, which tended to sooth his nervous ticks.
”Could be,” Kyle decided. ”In fact, because I've never seen that before...” he pointed his untwitchy hand at a spiky, lethal looking tree, ”I think it probably is.”

Kevin beamed down at the younger boy, excited someone was actually interested in his magic. Most of the people he knew already had powers when he got his, and therefore didn’t care.
“Thank you!” Kevin said. He watched as the tweezers hovered over Ciro’s injured hand, tilting his head to the side. “Do you want me to help you?” He asked, “it might be easier, and maybe not as painful.”
