The Hidden Door-A Role Play (AKA The Most Dangerous Coffee Shop II)

“Kevin! I think your wife or ex wife had your child while we were in the other world” Fred shrieked suddenly jumping to his feet

Kevin took a few steps back, frowning. There was a hole at the end of the hall leading up to the attic, and paint chips were scattered across the floor. He looked at Fred, blinking in confusion. Wife? Child? What is he talking about?
“Uhh... what? I don’t have a wife. Or a child. How much asbestos did you inhale?” He asked.

“So you dug through the stuff in a sealed off attic?” Kevin said incredulously, snatching the photo. He glanced down. It was a picture of him and a woman, her arm around his shoulder as he held a beer glass towards the camera. She had medium brown hair and was wearing a light grayish-pink fur jacket, and diamond stud earrings. Kevin wore an expensive looking black suit, minus the tie, and a white undershirt.
“That’s my sister,” Kevin said, “and all that baby stuff? It’s mine. From when I was a child. This is my parents home. I assure you, there is no woman, and definitely no children. And even if there was, it wouldn’t be any of your business. We’ve known each other for three months, and have barely talked about personal things. My personal life is non of your concern.” Kevin snapped. “Now put everything back, and clean this mess up. By all means, keep snooping, but I promise with every part of my being, you will find something you won’t like.” He pocketed the picture, turning on his heel. How the bunch of idiots thought in the three months he had been gone he somehow had a child, who out grew all of the baby stuff, and had it sealed in the attic with eighteen years worth of dust upon the dirty sheets, was beyond him.

Cam kicked the paint chips into a neat pile in the corner with her feet and went downstairs to get a dustpan from where she found it in the closet. Or to hide. Noah sighed. She was going to mope on the couch again.
“We’re not involved,” she hissed.
Suddenly, the phone rang. It could be anyone, but she checked who the caller was. Her mother.
She picked up.
“Cam?”
“It’s me, Mom.”
A very frantic Mrs. Millian and a soothing, confused Cam discussed her current position, and yes, she was totally okay. Why couldn’t she come home? Wait, that was an option? The police made it sound like it wasn’t.
“You’re never gonna believe what happened. I got sucked into another portal.”
Strangely, Mrs. Millian was less dubious than she expected. “Anna told us you went into a portal with Noah, and we never believed her.”
Mrs. Millian insisted she share every detail of where she was and really whether she was totally okay, but Cam told her it was probably best she explained it once she got home.
They said their goodbyes and I don’t want this to be sad so there it is.

Normally, Kipp would have decided it was time to vanish for a while, but it was cold outside. And seeing Noah sitting quietly on the couch alone drew his attention. It wasn't like Noah to be still or quiet. Kipp made his way over and sat next to him on the couch.

"How are you? Having fun?"

Aella kept her gaze on the ground, twirling strands of grass around her fingers silently. She didn't understand why he so kind, nor did she know how to respond to such compliments. It was rare that anyone ever complimented or praised her, and it caused a smile to form on her face.
"For the record, you wouldn't have to pay me. I will be you physcopath anyday of the week if you need me to be." Her gaze made it's way to his, her fingers pausing in their torture of the poor vegetation that was quite useless against her brutality. "But I guess I don't understand why you're so kind. I'm just like any other person, y'know, with a few more bad traits and a few more crazy experinces then most. But..." She drew off, watching the commotion in the paddock across the lawn, her face momentarily screwing up in confusion at the sight of the strange creature one of the children had been on. It looked similar to a horse, but not quite. "I dunno. I don't see how I'm much more different then anyone else."
Ciro shook his head slowly, both at her incomprehension and over the boy-and-donkey show he'd just witnessed out of the corner of his eye. "Everyone deserves kindness, El. No regard of who they are, where they came from, and where they are going, it is my job to return to them all the respect I had been given on my best days," he began haltingly, aware that the a long-winded speech was going to take its toll on his coherence and was accordingly abashed by it. "But you are special, too. I can see it clearly perfectly, but you just have not yet let yourself see the sides to you that you are only letting show up now."
He paused heavily and frowned deeply. "I am not too sure that made sense." Sure, his ability to stick to English had improved significantly while consistently living with constant English-speakers, but there was still a lot of it that just didn't work for him. Adjectives and adverbs had been way too inconsistent from the start- and what now, they could overlap and override each other?
Ciro was on his feet before she could really take notice of his rapidly reddening face. "Come on, let's go meet the animals." He looked down on a chance whim and found that his ever-hungering, predatory burden remained ever-present, as always. "Or maybe that not is a good idea." He bit down on his lip for a terse moment, then threw his hands in the air in surrender. "Oh, what the friggin' heck. Stay, Taquikkar." She dropped without a sound, right in place. "You had better stay exactly like that, or I might as well be boiled in a pot of acid."

(Me too. I've only been in my attic once, and it was just last week. There is a creepy doll up there. I didn't put it there. It's from the previous owners. It's an unfinished attic though so I didn't really go up there all the way. )

“I wanna play a game,” Noah said. “But we can’t find any anywhere.” He hadn’t added that he hadn’t looked many places.

"Yeah, digging through Kevin's stuff is a bad idea. We could play thumb war? If you've ever heard of that. Or..." Kipp glanced over his shoulder at Cam who was on talking on the phone. It was probably another bad idea, and he shouldn't even suggest it, but he also would rather be just about anywhere but here. "We could go flying. You're not that heavy."

“Flying?” Noah asked. His face lit up with the realization, the smile reaching his mouth, then curling to his ears, then turning his eyes into little dark moons. “Yes! Yes! Let’s go flying!” He bounced up and down and shook Kipp’s hand.

Fred winced “oops”

Kipp smiled at his enthusiasm. He really should tell some one, or leave a note, but he didn't have any paper and the only others in the room (that I'm aware of) we're Colby who was still asleep. And Cam who was on the phone. And there was no way he was going back upstairs.

"Alright." He said standing up and following Noah to the door. "I have one rule. Don't mess with my wings while were in the air. Aside from that..." He looked up as they went through the door, trying to thinknof anything else he should know. "I'm not gonna let you fall... Unless you want to. I guess I mean, I wont let you crash. So, if you want to I suppose you could... " he waved at Ciro, and Aella as they walked past. That should do for letting some one know that he was taking Noah.

"Pobably the best way is to piggy back... You don't throw up on roller coasters right?"
