The highest value treats?

Blueberries! Unfortunately my chickens found my bushes but luckily they can only jump so high. Saves me from having to crawl on the ground to pick the lower ones and it's great for their diet.

Ha! The trade off! My girls eat my tomatoes on the lower part of my bushes. Had to plant extra kale to share too. They kept jumping up to eating it from the edges of the barrel it was planted in. Also made the mistake of leaving the pot of Swiss chard on the ground where they could reach...they only left me the ribs! Lesson learned. Haha.

When it's hot, I like to make "ice treats" for my girls...I have a shallow Corningware dish that I will fill with whatever fruit/veggies (cut up) I have on hand, fill partly with water, then freeze. When ready, I just put the whole dish out in their yard and now they have a cold, refreshing treat on a hot day, and they have to pick through the ice a bit to get the treats out! Keep them busy and entertained as well. :)

My girls love whole wheat seeds and dried oats. I had a bad bag of feed at one point in time and dumped it, thinking the chickens would leave it alone... Nope. They avoided the bad foodstuffs and ate every one of the maggots in it. They've also found mice nests and have eaten pinkies out of it, so frozen pinkies used to feed snakes, and any sort of grub or larva you get, along with grains, for sure!

my girlz love basically anything and everything that i will give them!! ive got a toddler friend and when he comes he askes if he can make another 'soup'!! basically he gets to mix together lots of treats that the chooks like in a big tub and then give it to them... last time he came it was mashed up banana (that had gone black), grass, bread and lettuce (stuff we didnt want from our allotment patch!!)...

For training I would say Grubblies. They are more expensive then meal worms but they are raised in the U.S. off of preconsumer food waste. My chickens go nuts for them!
Other then that mine eat anything with seeds. Squash, cucumber, melon, tomato... they really don't like leafy greens. Pumpkins are good boredom busters. They will peck a hole clean through it. Yogurt is good for them. I make frozen bowls from the hollowed out end of watermelon or cantaloupe. They love that goop you scoop out of cantaloupe and normally throw away. I put it right back in the rind. Add apple slices or strawberry tops, whatever is handy, top with water and freeze. Then I set the whole bowl out there.
They like peaches, bananas, mango...if it's sweet to us mine seem to love it. They go after little toads too. Anything that jumps or flits.
I've given them meat too. They love ham and beef. I can't bring myself to give them chicken. LOL
EGGS! They will eat them any way they can get them. When someone isn't feeling well I'll make scrambled eggs with chopped garlic and oregano.

Mine love ripping into leafy greens. They also love duckweed and water hyancinth. They go nuts over june bugs, earthworms, and grubs. I also give them black oil sunflower seeds a few times a week. The goopy seeds from musk melons are also a favorite of theirs, but they aren't as excited about the flesh and rind. I pull the shuck back from ears of sweet corn, take off the silk, and tie them to the hardware cloth on the side of the run with strips of the shuck and they peck them clean in no time. Mine aren't too keen on whole fruits, or the tougher raw vegetables. I've been known to chop kitchen scraps up in the ninja, and they'll eat it that way. I think they're a little on the lazy side. They also love scrambled egg.
