The hunting/fishing thread!

That’s a nice deer, Missouri is a lot better Deer hunting than CA. I wouldn’t say that there is nearly as much public land though. The deer population in CA is only 650,000 Missouri’s is 1.3 million. And there is not as much brush and tall hills in Missouri and,....... they aren’t pesky little sneaky blacktails deer, which all makes Missouri better for deer hunting. I would say though that CA is much better fishing...(believe me, it’s the best fly fishing in the mainland USA besides Alaska and maybe Oregon). And it’s much better quail hunting, California Valley and mountain quail are both very common and gambles are common down in SoCal.
That's her first buck. Two years ago she killed a bigger deer than many people ever get to, but she and my husband have been able to hunt of hundreds of acres on his Grandparents farm. My grandpa and dad would probably both enjoy fishing in CA! I think my Dad would fish everyday if it were an option!

Daughter's big buck. After this guy she messed around this year and didnt get anything-she was waiting for big antlers! Does taste a lot better than those bucks though.

Hey, I'm new hunting, but I go fishing on a regular basis. I got my first kill (nuisance squirrel) about two months ago with a 12 gauge. That's the only chance I've had to go hunting so far. I'm working up to the 30-30 for deer season, and that's the next one on my list of guns to shoot. As for fishing, my biggest catch has been a 7 lb catfish, which isn't that big compared to a lot of people, but I'm proud of it.

That’s a nice deer too! I forgot on the Eastern side of the country they count the size of antlers by adding them together such as 12 pointer. On the western area of the country we say 4x5 or 2x2 or 1x3 Or 6x6 etc.
that is what we do here as well my mule deer was a nice 3 by 3, (or so i was told i only cared about the meat haha)

30-30 is an awesome round, its my main rifle for bush hunting up in the north (use it for white tail and black bears) know lots of story's of old trappers shooting moose and elk with 30-30 guns.

My Dad calls his 30-30 his lucky gun. He usually gets at least one deer with it every year. I'm excited to learn how to use it and hopefully kill a deer with it.
