The Imported English Jubilee Orpington Thread

Pics
I have two Jubilee boys that need homes. One is 7 weeks and the other 6. If someone is interested send me a PM.

Hi Junibutt!

Advertise them on Craigslist. I sold two excess cockerels for $25 each last year, and sold all my cockerels this year, too. You should not have to give away a Jubilee cockerel. $25 is not much, but it sure beats a poke in the eye!

I have a proven fertile 15 month old Jubilee roo from GFF lines that I am looking to sell. I have his brother, and they are virtually identical, so I no longer need both. PM me if interested. Local pickup only (Indianapolis area). Way too big to ship! He's good with the hens, and not aggressive toward people. First, here are some of his chicks I sold this season (two pullets and a cockerel):

And here's daddy back in January...

I tried on facebook but there were no takers. I will re-post them with new pics. Meanwhile I think one of them which I thought was a cockerel may not be one. Here are the pics of the two taken almost 2 weeks ago: The one sitting on the scale has become questionable now.

Also have 4 mottled Orpington cockerels to re-home as well:)

@Junibutt I have had better luck with Craigslist than Facebook. Truthfully, my best luck has been on the state/local threads on here!

You may be right that that top chick is a pullet. Hard to be 100% sure, but seems to have a good bit of tail for 6-7 weeks, and not much comb. Males are usually significantly taller at that age, too (at least mine have been). They look like emus with their long stretched up necks and relatively bare bottoms and tails compared to their sisters.

I will try both Craig's list and facebook. They one sitting on the scale is 9 weeks now and his white is lesser than what it was before, so I am leaning towards a pullet. I guess if its confirmed, I can sell them as a pair. lol.

I would LOVE them! I have tried several times now to hatch Jubilee Orpington eggs, but not a one has made it! I have tried several different suppliers with no luck.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong, because I have managed to hatch other breeds quite successfully. Is there a fertility problem? Some of the eggs I've gotten look pretty porous--more so than any other breed I've seen. They are the most beautiful birds.

Hi there, I have had backyard chickens for several years but I am new to jubilees! I recently acquired 6 day-old chicks, of which I am certain 2 are roos and the remaining 4 are females. My roos have lots of lovely white markings, but only one of my hens has any white on her besides on the chest. My question is, will they develop the white spotted coloration as they mature? They seem to be fully feathered...they are 10 weeks old as of now. Thank you!

I have 2 Jubilee Cockerels, One is 13 weeks and the other 14 weeks. Also a 14 week old pullet as well. If someone is interested, please message me in private. Here are pics taken today:

I have two jubilee Orpington that were supposed to be a pair but turned out to be both roosters. Do you know where I can order a female?

I like to wait and set my eggs when 1. they have been laying at least a month and 2. the eggs weigh 49 grams. I have more success that way.

Someone mentioned storing eggs and losses. I wonder if this has been my problem with my chocolates? I have had great luck not going over a week.
