The Incubation Thread

I do mark the eggs so I know what coop they came out of. I'm good usually at marking on my calendar the date I put them in the incubator. I have done this before and it worked out ok but it's not a habit I make.

No movement or internal pip. I am perfectly happy with 3 little chicks. Boots and Soldier, the two older chicks are eating and drinking. They accepted Shadow, the new chick, and let him cuddle with them at sleep time.

We opened the other two eggs tonight. I believe one died around day 14 which was the last time I saw movement. The other was fully formed but dead. Not sure what happened because he had even started absorbing yolk. Here are my 3 fluff balls though.

Now, I have a question. Both the parents are black no matter who the mother is. How did I get this wing pattern? Will it go away or will they be mottled and/or splash? Or will they just have white leakage? If you want me to share pics of the parents I can. (The father is my profile pic.)
