The Incubator Experiment ....

After 2 years of buying day old chicks I had the bright idea to hatch my own so that I could get my chicken addicted little paws on a few rare breeds...... After purchasing what seemed to be a boat load of eggs 6 black copper marans, 6 BLRW, 6 Cream Legbars & 6 SPW all I ended up with was 2 Cream Legbars and 2 BLRW's a pullet & cockerel of each breed. I found a home for the Legbar roo and my BLRW pullet was taken out by a rogue fox SO now of course I have a mismatched pair of chickens ! All in all the 2 I have left are beautiful !

Incubating your own eggs can mean extra roos. Although I have really enjoyed my roosters, we did have to build extra coops for them. Try posting in this section of the forum to help find a new home: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/16182/animals-in-need-of-free-re-homing

Many people also try Craigs list for rehoming.
