The Incubator Thread

Hi Madforchickn, I too would recommend that you move your incubator into your house. I am a first time hatcher & I checked my eggs often. So if you have them outside, you will constantly have to run out there to do that. In addition, the room temperature makes a huge difference in maintaining a consistent temp. I had 4 chicks successfully hatch today and 2 more are pipped internally. Its so exciting, they came a day early. Hope you have a great hatch!

i have another worry, my baby chick doesn't seem to be eating or drinking I try to get it to eat and drink but it doesn't really, but I has been pooping a lot and trying to peck at the starter pellets I got it, but I wont propyl eat it...help!!!

Hello chickenlady,

Yes I moved them in a while back to my bedroom :) I wake up in the night and check hehe temp is pretty good always fluctuates between 37.9 and 37.1 so averages out to be 37.4 humidity is the one that drives me mad but I keep the humidity between 45 and 59 so hope that's going to be ok.... I have bantam eggs so hoping mine will peep a little early too :)

Congratulations on your hatch!! I can't wait for mine to peep!! :) I also have a broody hen at the moment that is setting! So more exciting days to come!! :) x

Hey there guys and gals,

I am doing basic preliminary research on incubation for my future Ayam Cemani breeding flock.
you can watch my progress on "The American Cemani Breeders Club" here on BYC.

When each Pure Ayam Cemani egg containing and embreo has an estimated auction value of a whopping $160, and when each 3 week old Camani chick sales for $1000 - $2500,
You can see why i cannot afford to waste a single one in a bad incubator.

The fellow who hatched mine said that he only uses a "Agri supply" standard Styrofoam incubator.

What is your take on this?
