The Incubator Thread

Hi All,

I began incubating eggs in the incubator, I am on day 4. Now, today, two of my hens have gone broody. Should I move the incubated eggs to under the hen or just leave them?

Hi, we have chicks that are starting to hatch. - 2 have pips and 8-14 more should hatch over the next 10 days - This is our first time hatching eggs (but we have gotten chicks through the mail). We have a styrofoam incubater with little red things on top, an automatic turner and heater. When they hatch what do we do with them? Should I take out the red things on top? And should I unplug the turner (it wont turn of the heat)???? Please let me know as some will be hatching over the next 24 hours!!!! Thank YOU!!!!

Ok Im Ricky with rrmorgans and I have a dozen goose eggs and one of the eggs is starting to peck a hole in the shell. How long does it take to complete yhe hatching. I know not to try and help with the cracking.

New to this site. Not sure where to post...I candled last night and noticed the air sack on one of our eggs looked different than it previously had? It didn't have the nice crisp line defining the air sack from the chick area. I did notice the chick move but didn't see a beak in the air sack area. However, I didn't pick the egg up just candled where it was laying. Can someone tell me what is happening? Should I be worried?

Update** one pip but not the one I was concerned about. Any ideas on the odd looking air bubble?

Has any of you used this incubator?
Any tips?

G'day Ladies & Gents,
I was looking for any advice on the JANOEL 24 auto incubator. As anyone used one of these? Any tips? One question as the instruction book is not too clear, but should the "vent" hole in the top cover on the right hand side be kept open or closed?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

hey to the silky lady- I hatched out 2 silky mixes, combo of incubator and hen, last night they were hatching and I put them under the mom to help them hatch/talk to them. In the morning one of the eggs didn't make it, it was out from under her, peeping but died later. but I have 2 in incubator- and 3 under mom. with a broody if all your eggs don't hatch at the same time, you have to chose, does she get the eggs or the chicks. mostly I let her have the eggs, this time I decided to let her have the chicks. we will see how it goes.
