A true predator wouldn't be nearly as gracious. Must keep that precious flock of yours safe. 
So the lights you see are inside the coop but I have lights outside the coop too. It's pretty bright outside. (My mom says it's Christmas 24/7 for the chickens. ) I set up the door to open with the outside lights so the girls can go outside and do their morning routine. (I read someone who had their set up that way and that it was a great idea. Not so much now) The cat must have been walking around outside and the chickens were wary of it because usually they are at the door begging for it to be open.
Yes I agree I am very lucky. Even though the door didn't open til much later I did not sleep a wink last night because I was just paranoid.
x3. I think I spent more time worried about the hawks and falcons I forget about the other predators. Only recently have cats started appearing around our neighborhood. Also, last year I lost both my dogs and the cats might have sensed it too so they came a knocking for a visit. I am thinking this cat might not come by for a bit. Bright side... if they do hang out I am hoping they eat all the rats and mice.
Your flock was frightened by the unforeseen visitor, especially since it seems they aren't familar.
My chickens don't bat an eye when new kitties come around, due to the fact they're all raised interacting with cats from day 1.
