Lent used to be torture for me. Now I treat it like any other day just with the extra penance/fasting on top. Really, what did it for me was Holy Week being so long (you know, Good Friday, Easter Vigil, etc.)

Advent feels like it goes by too fast. I guess that's what joyful penance gets you.

Oh ok, we just don't eat meat on Fridays during lent and don't eat between 12-3 on good Friday. We usually give something up for lent too
