The Interesting Thread!

We are raising two baby starlings that fell from their nest. Four fell in all but I suspect that the first had internal injuries because it only survived a few hours. The second to fall is doing well but it is crippled, most likely from the fall. The third was found dead two days later and the fourth fell the next day and is doing really well. I suspect that the crippled one will stay with us but I'm hoping that the other will fledge soon and be able to make it on its own.

Awesome! Good luck with them!

Oh wow! Sorry about the ones that didn't make it, and good job with the others! I love to rehab, I have done a mocking bird before and wild rabbits, but the rabbits never seem to live. I had a bunny almost make it, but then he died too. I hear it's hard though, so I don't feel to bad about it.

Wild rabbits are very hard. The most common mistake I find is that people dilute their milk too much and feed them way too often. Also when orphans do reach you they are often in shock and that has to be remidied before feedings begin.

Oh I see, so are you a wildlife rehabber?

No actually, I'm not, but I've always had lots of critters and folks tend to bring me things they don't know how to care for.

Oh Okay Cool! I want to be like that! Knowing how to care for the animals and being trusted enough in that knowledge that people bring me them. The release is the most fun part!

I went to your page and tried to sign your petition but couldn't see how, I can be sort of technologically disadvanced!
