The Jane Goodall of Chickens

I have a naked neck that when I go out she runs up to me chattering away. In my mind she is telling me all about her day. She is the most vocal of the bunch. I love to hear the broodies talk to their babies. Its so sweet the way she softly clucks to them.

I come home after work (dark now) and check on the girls. They are all up on the roost and secure (autodoor) and when they hear me come in the barn they start cooing and trilling.

I love the welcome home. Of course I talk back and ask them how their day was.

Yep, they have identified something like 18 sounds that mean specific things.

I love listening to chickens talk to each other. My neighbor's chickens can get into some heated discussions sometimes. Haha!

I love to just watch my chickens.....They do really have their own language......The rooster showing his ladies some food, doing his dance for them....Wooing them......Hens with their egg song.....They really do have their own little chatter. Especially my oldest hen, Daisy....She has little conversations with both me and my husband....It's darling!
