I've used my maternal hen to raise a dozen chicks once. She did a great job, they're at twelve weeks now. She's either an unknown purebred or a hybrid, probably some kind if buff Orpington mix. She's the fluffy potato. I think she's either three or four.

So cute!
I've had one broody, a black australorp named Rocky. She has gone broody 3 years in a row now, so this year I finally gave her some chicks. She's a great mom.

I have had two broodies in my life.

Danny a golden laced sebright with her silver duckwing mixes.

And Big Bertha with her silver duckwing mix.

I'll take a picture of them together tomorrow.
