The Joys of rescue hens!

No I would love to be able but I live in a residential area with a steep valley to the back, we have resident urban foxes (which use my garden as a walkthrough sometimes) and lots of cats, mine being one of them! I would hate to lose either of them. I might do it supervised once I have a more substantial fence at the back of the garden .....although they would have no grass lol! The previous occupants decided to gravel over every last blade! I just have to compromise with making their pen as comfortable as possible with lots to occupy them:D
You should fill your run with wood chippings that people sell, i bet they would love it. And also get some turfs or grass for them too :)

They have bark chippings in half of the scratching trough, the rest is really fine sandy soil. They have mixed it all in and love digging through it, and it's easy for me to replace. funny you should say that about turf, my Dad is bringing me turf up at the weekend! He forgot it when we built the pen last weekend. They like going on top of their coop and the shelter as well but still not overly keen on the perch yet...only if I entice them with food :)
