The khaki-Campbell duck Thread !!!!!!!!

Pics
I just got my first 4 ducks in not sure how old they are I'm thinking they are KC or a KC mix they are tethered out and are all the same size color and make the same noise. But 1 I'm hoping is a drake has a tail feather that curls up he also has a lil more shiny green ting to his wing but his head looks the same as the rest. Could it still be a drake and can anyone guess a age I'll try posting pic if I can figur out how

i love all my ducks (cayuga, mallard and khaki) and ive found that my KC's (Ringo (M) and Echo (F) are the most responsive to humans when we are out in the run.....you call them and they quack therir little hearts out and run almost up to us. they are the youngest of the "quack pack" and make the rest of the flock come waddling after....i love them. ill post pics soon....

I am going crazy trying to figure out what I have... I KNOW I have 1 drake for sure, was actually able to vent sex him when he was a few days old. I thought the second khaki was a duck, looked like a female all 3 times I tried vent sexing her but these are the first ducks I've ever had so I am no expert vent-sexer. They are now about 12 weeks old and starting to get new feathers again and in the sun it's obvious that the drake has green head feathers coming in ... and so does the "duck". Hers aren't nearly as green. Now I was sure I had 2 ducks and 1 drake until now - I have a Welsh Harlequin DUCK too. The drake has always had visible curly drake feathers and the other two do not. The drake's bill has been yellowish green for about 3-4 weeks now and the other khaki's is just starting to lighten up in the middle over this last week, a very small amount so far. I can't tell by the quacks, the khaki's sound similar to me but all I have to compare to is the Welsh Harlequin, which is loud and we tease her that she is the goose of the flock. Anyway, I am very distraught, I do not want to get rid of any, I love them all. Won't the drakes fight? Overbreed the Harlequin? Can ducks be caponized?

I tried posting a picture of my khakis but i cant from.my cell phone. I got 10 khakis 3 turned out to be ducks and seven drakes. I listened to thier quacks at five weeks old but did another check to confirm at 6 weeks. The duck has a quackno doubt about it and the drakes sound like a whisper not like a quack at all. A couple of my drakes have greenish bills the rst are brown at almost seven weeks i can see the wing feathers coming in darker and have a greenish sheen to them which my three ducks dont have but all of thier heads look similar and as of yet do not contribute to what gender they are. Maybe that will help with your trying to find out what genders you have. I have heard that khaki drakes can be quite aggressive with the lady ducks and to keep one drake for every five to six ducks i only have three ducksso i will see how it goes with one drake and three ducks. I also talked to a women who raises ducks for over twenty years today she was so great to talk to full of knowledge and she said to butcher at 8-10 weeks right before the first molt if they go into molt then wait tile 20 weeks but i dont know why the molt plays impirtance do any of you? I love my khakis but they dont care much about me only when i have treats as soon as the trwats run out so does the love. The free range all day mostly make a bee line for the pond as soon as i let them out in the morning and then make thier way back home for bed in the evening, i leave them out whole i not at home but i do have a good dog who watches things though she is not a guardian she is just a retriever lab cross. I will ubfortiantley be butchering my extra drakes but cannot decide which one to keep any tips on picking the best for breeding?

Duckie dabbler can you upload videos of your ducks making noise individually im sure people could help you it with gender that is what i did on a fb page

I'm not able to get a video linked, actually having problems just getting a picture attached. Well, if it's all about the quack at this age, about 12 weeks now, I'm in trouble. The two Khakis sound very much alike, Welsh Harlequin is quite noisy and MUCH louder than the Khakis. I don't think the Khakis could really quack loud if they tried. So much to my dismay I believe I have two drakes.( Has anyone had any luck keeping two drakes and one duck as pets? Does anyone know about caponizing a drake? I really don't know what to do, sounds like even getting another duck might not satisfy those drake urges. I assume I wouldn't be having any problems with fighting yet at this age, all seem to get along great at this time but I'm sure that won't last too long. Anyone have any ideas? I'm in a tough spot (

Hard to tell. The one on the right looks female to me.
Here's a link to a video of my ducks that are just a month older than yours. The boy is the one who won't eat out of my hand.

So the females DO have those black squares on their wing feathers! I was on the fence for a while as to whether I had a drake and two ducks or a duck and two drakes because of those black squares coming in on the wing feathers. I was beginning to think I had two drakes but a friend came over and told me I did in fact have two ducks. Thanks for the video! That was cute. Wish mine were that comfortable around us, hoping they'll come around.

I currently have 2 drakes and 1 hen together and I'm not
seeing any issues between them so far. They are hatch
mates and were raised together......they are nearly a year
old now. I do have 2 more hens/ducks I will be adding to
the group soon and I'm hoping all will still good between them
