Pics
I was thinking about expanding into different kinds of poultry and was looking into ducks, are campbells as good laying as they say and where is a good place to get show quality ones or should i get at a hatchery i would really like show quality

Can anyone help me identify the breed of this brown duckling? I got him/her over the weekend at Tractor Supply with the mallard but cant remember what they said it was. I am thinking a KC but not sure. Also any guesses as to age? Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone. These duckling photos are so precious! I need a little help. I got two KC's from Tractor Supply about a month ago. One of them wasn't growing nearly as fast as the other, then he started hoping around trying not to put weight on one of his feet and two days later he died. The other one is perfectly healthy. I gave them a heating pad on one side of the pen so they could stay warm or cool off, I gave them vitamin water to make sure they were getting niacin...I don't know what happened. Any ideas? And will my other one be okay alone? I have a goose, and once the remaining baby is big enough they will be outside together. I've been introducing them slowly and they seem to be okay with each other...

May i ask what you have your ducklings in in the picture?

It is a mini chicken/duck tractor I put together with plastic fencing, zip ties, and left over pvc I used for cold frames/bird proofing in the garden. I let the babies go out when it is warm to give them a chance to forage. Heres a pic without the babies in it...

Well my six KC ducklings have been outside now for bit and able to eat some bugs grass and dirt ect, and are turning out halfway decent for ruff start had after feed problems. I'm so happy, but now four quack, but two of those go quiet sounding like males at time too. one has white wing bars for some reason (???), one has really thick flat head and bill. anything to look for to keep or cull males by? My KCs won't go in water except their heads, if i put them in water they act like on fire. lol. they love rolling and sliding around in the evening to morning dew though. i was planning to brood KC eggs and ducklings under my muscovy ducks. my muscovy ducks eat fire ants wasps ect, rodents, snakes even (its not pretty!). my scovy even eat the grass and poison ivy ect down, as well as flies and pond algea, though grass and algea make drakes make large more solid poops.. my scovy kept out from my KCs by some goat fencing, were the KCs even feathered and artificially brooded by me inside, are played with, loved on, and protected by the drake and hen scovys, and eighty pound german shepherd. hawks possum and skunk have come along stream and creek and after seemingly, but stopped as always find them or mostly parts of around KC pen (its just snaked along to hold standing and strong breezes have knocked it down.

Hopefully thryd start laying in four months, but maybe six. I've heard of some start laying at three months. that's if you get female.. hehehe. everyone seems to end up with a couple drakes at least, that's how your turned further to "THE DUCK SIDE"!!! lol

"The Duck Side" BAH HAHAHA!! Good one :D!!

We picked up 4 KC at TSC close to two months ago. They've feathered out but I'm still at a loss over sexing. One has a very distinctive quack while the other three have, what I would call a peeping/chirping sound to them. Would it be safe to assume we have three drakes and one hen?
