What’s that??
You fill the bottom of their cage with a few inches of a mixture of sand, dirt, and mulch. The birds naturally scratch around in it and mix it up. It composts down, and every now and again you add a few more handfuls of the mixture.

No scooping poop. No smell. Once a year or so, you remove at least half of the mixture and add more fresh stuff.

It's inexpensive, easy to upkeep, and very effective.

That sounds very easy! Our chickens get so many flies with changing it once a week I wish 😭 can you only do it with like small coops or
 
The deep litter method makes for natural environment and is easy on their feet. No wire bottom and no catch pans to clean.

It gives them plenty of spaces for taking a dirt bath, no need for a separate pan of sand, which they send flying everywhere. So there is less dust.
